Overall, the evening was as we expected. However, the "interview"part was too short (only 1 hour), which was followed by a Q&A half hour. There should have been another half hour of interview.
Right when the show started I could feel the crowd's enthusiasm. Phil was so entertaining and kind to the fans. I had a great time!
This was a great night. One thing about the show Somebody Feed Phil is that it is a lighthearted, make you feel good show. This night with Phil was just that. He was honest, down to earth, and shared stories from the show and his life. I left there being entertained, but also feeling like I was part of his inner circle. For any fans of the show, this is a must do. It is worth every penny.
Phil was great. Told funny anecdotes and stories from all of his travels. Unfortunately too much time was spent letting people ask questions that he’d already answered. My suggestion is more Phil time and fewer questions.
I am a huge fan of Phil and his show. I just didn’t think this was what we expected. It was just basically a Q&A session. Plus, there was a lingering microphone issue that persisted throughout the show. There was only a 5 minute clip and the rest was just Phil taking questions the rest of the time. Additionally, he didn’t even answer all the questions as he left at least 10 people without the opportunity to ask.
Phil was terrific.... Funny, kind, interesting and charming..... Everything you see on "Somebody Feed Phil". The Harrison Opera House had significant technical and staging problems. The audio was terrible!! You'd think, for a very straightforward production, it would be easy to get it right. Apparently not! Don't miss Phil if you get a chance to see him!! Do skip the Harrison Opera House!
Seeing him in person, I see him as warm and funny as he is on Somebody Feed Phil. At one point, a young girl asked where was his favorite place to be. He called her to the stage, shook her hand, and said here, (the theater) because I got to meet you. You can't fake that. One of the good guys.
if you are a fan of the show - go! he is everything you want him to be an more - In a time where too much is too dark - Phil is the positivity and light that we all need to make our days a little better
The evening with Phil was incredible. He’s such a relatable and caring person whose positivity and connection to the audience was felt from the moment he stepped foot on stage. From the crowd singing along to the opening theme music of “Somebody Feed Phil” to the three rounds of applause he received upon entry, the energy was palpable all the way through to the final question of Q&A. Would definitely recommend!
Great to hear about his experiences. He has such an uplifting view point in traveling, meeting new people and having new experiences
Went to "An Evening with Phil"in Sydney in September 2023, and thrilled he's coming back to the Bay Area and I'll see be seeing him a 2nd time! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!
Loved Phil Rosenthal! He’s hilarious, warm and positive. Loved the stories he shared, including his late father’s favorite joke. The 90 minute program flew by far too quickly.
Phil was charming, engaging and interesting. There is no kinder person on the planet. He is a beacon of kindness.
I really enjoyed the back and forth during the first 30 minutes but once it was opened up to audience questions it seemed to drag on a bit and get redundant.
It was fun to hear Phil recall memorable moments in the making of Feed Phil. Much laughter throughout the evening. The one area for improvement: I would have preferred a monologue from Phil. For the first 15 minutes of the show, the young comedian was quite chatty, sharing stories about his life. I'm sorry, but I was there to see and hear Phil. Otherwise, we enjoyed the show.
The Balboa Theater was a great venue, ticket price reasonable, meet and greet option was super. Phil is just as nice in person as he appears on TV. His wife, Monica, was there too which was an added bonus. Just found Phil’s podcast Naked Lunch; would have been even better if his co-host David was the moderator. Would definitely see Phil again!
It was a fun evening and I was glad he was so open to talk to the public. But I was expecting a bit more of maybe a “behind the scenes” type of talk about the show. Opening the mic to the public, went a bit too long for my taste. People didn’t just ask a question, they just took over the mic to ask, being honest here, dumb questions trying to be funny.
Not only were Phil and Alex entertaining, but what a great venue for this event! The staff was very welcoming, informal, and relaxed. From the security checkpoints, to the ticket takers, the seat concierge, the concessions stand employees, and the lighting/sound crew, everything was absolutely perfect. And Monica...what a great couple! We were both overcome with raw emotions to see such kindness, humility and humbleness from a true business powerhouse!
An evening with Phil is like an evening with a friend. Funny, sweet, informative, and warm. Lovely to meet his wife Monica. Only downside was I wish his book and Merch were for sale since profits go to charities.
