Phat Phunktion Tickets

So much sound that it all became noise without musical definition. Opening band had a virtuoso violin performer and there was such a din of noise that more than half of what he played went unheard. Is it headphones? Is it knobs and lights? Because this has happened at The Sylvee, the High Noon, Madison summer festivals I look at the sound guys and none are paying attention to the performance, so amazing solos are lost. Musicians playing their most outstanding and the sound guys totally miss it because they never look at the stage. Vocals were out of tune for Phat Phunktion. Could the band hear properly? When I can hear Marcia Ball throw a kiss over the microphone is when I know the sound guys are on top of their game. I wanted to hear the violin. Sigh! Loud is not the answer. A wall of overwhelming sound is not the answer. When will sound guys recognize and react to the bass being overwhelming and the vocals can't be heard? I will continue to support these venues because I'm there in support and love for LIVE music and Madison. I love the band and am friends with some performers. I am not disappointed with all sound at all shows. Just.......damn!

Phat Phunktion is worth every penny. From the opening note to the last encore they are musically, visually and emotionally an almost overwhelming stimulation.

Especially the opening act. Adem Tesfaye band was great.

Awesome show by an awesome funk band! I’ve seen them a few times and they never disappoint!!!!

Loved the band/music/showmanship. Wish the amplification was turned down a bit as it distorted many of the lyrics.

You can't go wrong at a Phat Phunction show! They're a 9-piece funk band full of pros. The horn section is outstanding, Turbo and Pauli are in the pocket with percussion and Tim brings it all together. They don't play very often so if you get the opportunity, don't miss it!

Phat Phunktion is really good at what they do. Loud, bold brass, and keyboards and high energy delivery. The problem is that’s all they do. Over and over. You can’t tell one song from another. Same tempo, same intensity, same solo breaks, could even be the same lyrics but no one really cares about their lyrics. They introduced a new song and it sounded exactly like the previous six songs they just played. Ended up leaving early because it got boring really fast.
