Semi Precious Weopons stole the show

by JudyO on 9/29/09Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I am recommending this concert mainly based on the fact that I purchased tickets on the $15 all in weekend. Had I paid $30+ I would have given it an average rating I went to see Ladyhawke who played about a 40 minute set and no encore. She sang beautifully but her spirit did not seem into the small remaining crowd. Certainly this tour has had its ups and downs with low ticket sales and Ida Marie dropping out of the line up. So I give it to these groups to keep hanging in there and performing the best they can. Natalie Portman's Shaved Head had the hometown advantage and unfortunatey many of their fans left after hearing them play and there fore were not there for lady Hawke. They were a fun goofy group. I sure wish they would do more of the female vocals, I really like her voice. You can tell this band is on the road to finding their sound. They put on a fun performance. The real winners were Semi Precious weapons. To be honest I am not into their music, a little too grunge/punk metal for me but I will say I respected the showmanship, The lead singer engaged the crowd into the music he even went so far as to run through the crowd and body surf back up to the stage. In many ways he made the night as that is what I am remembering about the concert today.

    PerezHilton Presents@Opera House

by naymeister on 9/19/09The Opera House - Toronto

We came from Buffalo, NY and had no trouble finding this venue. The Opera House was a great choice! I was disappointed to not have been able to see Ida Maria. I walked in and was given five dollars and didn't know why...when we were leaving, I saw a sign posted. The sign would have been a little more helpful at entrance. All of the acts put on a great, quality show. Anjulie was great! The whole thing was pretty good, but I would hardly say amazing. It was high quality (which was expected) and it was great for the price that was paid. I would go to similar events more often if I knew I would get to see high quality acts. The ONLY downside is the day of the week...a Thursday in Toronto is no good considering many out of towners like to drive in for concerts like this!

    Ida What?

by AntPants on 9/18/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

this was a surprisingly undersold show during which the headliner broke down and barely performed her set... that being said, semi precious weapons really brought things up a notch for the 20-50 of us who were into it & frankmusik made for a great opener. the music videos on the screen between acts & funky perez video intros were sweet - something more shows should consider doing, since the main problem at most shows is the lack of activity between acts, the videos gave you something to look at. the drinks were terrible and overpriced, with a stupid wristband + id + one drink limit that made grabbing drinks for friends impossible & getting drinks for yourself annoying. all the annoyances of the house of blues couldn't ruin the pure glam rock energy of semi precious weapons, but might have been the cause of ida's breakdown. we couldn't imagine staying much after her second short appearance onstage, but had a decent time anyway.

$27 was too high a price for this show

by rrst11 on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Ida Maria walked off the stage after two songs...sooo unprofessional. We should have received a refund.

Perez Hilton Tour was a great time!

by Nicole13 on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

England's Frankmusik opened with an energetic, great-sounding set... I hope to see more of him here in the states. Then Semi-Precious Weapons offered an over-the-top, glam-inspired performance that the audience really responded to. Ida Maria, however, was downright bad. The lead singer had some sort of emotional breakdown/hissy fit in the middle of her performance and did not finish her set. Also, the disparity in musical style between Ida Maria and the other groups made me wonder why they were booked together. Ladyhawke was excellent, both musically and in terms of ability to engage the audience. However, House of Blues was too big a venue for this show and I felt vaguely awkward as a result of the empty space remaining even during the final set.

    Semi. Precious. Weapons.

by Becca11bear on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

If David Bowie and Axl Rose had a baby, it would be Justin Tranter, the lead singer of Semi Precious Weapons. If you have a chance to see Perez Hilton Presents Tour, go just for SPW. The band gives 150%. They're not just musicians, they're freaking ROCK STARS. At the House of Blues, Justin and Stevy Pyne climbed the rafters and swung above the audience while still playing and singing. They danced with the audience, crowdsurfed, and generally rocked out. Justin Tranter marched around on stage in heels that I could never pull off and strip teased for the audience. After the show they met, chatted, and took pictures with fans in the lobby. I would follow this band all over the U.S. to see them perform.

    Disappointed

by peldi on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

FrankMuzic was not bad. Semi Precious Weapons was awful. Ida Maria walked off stage after 1 half hearted song. Did not see LadyHawke If you are going to the show to see Ida Maria, I would not go. She put on a drunken performance in DC and then, walked off stage in Boston.

Ladyhawke was amazing, Ida Maria puzzling.

by mmmy on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I did not see Frankmuzic play but got there in time to see Semi Precious Weapons. At first I thought it was going to stink but the glammed out rebirth of Iggy Poppness was actually not bad. It was if nothing else, entertaining, and many of the lyrics were at the same time shocking and quite witty. Ida Maria played 2 songs then ran off stage. Everyone in the audience was at first pissed off but then she came back and said she had a very bad day and began crying. She managed one more sad song then left. The crowd was quite forgiving, which surprised me. I thought she might have been disappointed there were not more people as she looked kind of pissed off at first but perhaps she has a good excuse. I would be interested to find out. I came to see Ladyhawke and she did not disappoint! It was awesome, one of the best performances I've seen in a while. She seemed really happy to be there and was very gracious. She is excellent live, I would highly recomend seeing her if she comes back to Boston! I believe this show would have been better at a smaller venue like the Paradise but perhaps with so many bands of varying sounds they thought more people would show. It's a shame more people did not because Ladyhawke was great and made waiting through some of the drama worth it.

    Amazing Perez show at HOB!

by spenceryarman on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

The entire show was awesome! Frankmusic started things out beautifully, hes really got talent and its a lot of fun. Semi Precious weapons really stole the show though. They are SO MUCH FUN! They absolutely owned the stage, had everyone singing along, and made it so everyone had a BLAST! So cool that they hung out in the lobby and took pictures etc. Ida Maria started out ok, but then left the stage?! Apparently she had a huge emotional that day? She could have shared a bit more with the audience, or someone could have let us know what was going on, because she got a few boos for seemingly just not caring. But her powerhouse last song was so full of emotion because of whatever was eating at her, that the whole house cheered for her for being such a trooper. Last, but not least, Ladyhawke was amazing. Her tiny pixie frame, and cute 80's hair belied her ridiculous riff and synth skills! What an awesome show! The music videos in between band setups helped stave off boredom while setup happened. SO GOOD, SO MUCH FUN!

    FRANKMUSIK/SEMI-PRECIOUS WEAPONS/LADYHAWKE

by Alexi616 on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Amazing show!!! All the bands were great, except for Ida Maria..who seemed to be having a drug-related meltdown on stage, and in turn left the stage after slurring and crying..that aside..the show was awesome and I would definitely see all the bands again if they return to Boston!

    Ladyhawke YES, Ida Maria NO

by Saffa on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

Ladyhawke was absolutely fantastic, the Semi Precious Weapons were entertaining, Ida Maria was completely unpofessional and a waste of my time and money. The venue was also too big, and Ida Maria's antics on stage and the increadibly long time it took to change sets between bands only helped to thin out the crowd. In the end, Ladyhawke was the flicker of outstanding professionalism and performance that saved the evening. She is a good enough musician and performer to stand alone and I look forward to seeing her live in a more intimate venue in the future.

ida maria is a cry baby

by terribletwos on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

I have tried to see ida maria five times this year and each time she has canceled. this time i was way excited because i had a ticket in hand and i figured it was a no brainer that it would be an amazing show. until halfway through her second song and she stops playing. she stopped singing and crossed her arms. after a little talk with her bass player she leaves the stage to have the boys finish the song instrumentally. they huddled for a little bit then also walked off the stage. after setting the stage up for the next artist ida comes out with just her bass player, tears streaming down her face and attempts to sing one last song. all-in-all i was very disappointed that she couldnt sack up and finish the show. and having to pay 27 dollars to see her play and then not get to was unfortunate as well

    Perez H show was amazing!

by BostonBabe on 9/15/09House of Blues Boston - Boston

P.H. did a surprisingly amazing job at putting together a pretty unforgettable show in Boston. Frankmusik started off the show just right, but the best time was when Semi Precious Weapons took the stage. They were absolutely unbelievable! Unfortunately, Ida Maria was a huge disappointment, excusing her one-song set on 'a bad day'...BUT Ladyhawke finished off the show with at least eight memorable songs. Overall, such a fun concert!

    Awesome, entergetic show!

    by sarahb21 on 9/11/09Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Well, there weren't too many people there. At first, I thought that was a bad sign. But in actuality, it was great because we got to HANG OUT with the performers, dance with them, have serious 15-30 minute conversations, as well as see a great show and listen to some awesome music.

A great show- and Ida Maria totally rocks!

by PrincessChris on 9/11/09Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I saw Ida Maria on Jimmy Kimmel a while ago and was instantly hooked on her amazing voice. So I came to this show to see her. She was everything I expected with her punky, quirky songs that have great, heartfelt lyrics and melodies that I find stuck in my head. And- I got to meet her, talk with her a few minutes, got a picture with her and she signed my cd. Lots of fun! What surprised me was how much I enjoyed the other two bands, who I didn't know anything about. Ladyhawke and Semi Precious Weapons were both very talented and entertaining. SPW's high energy stage show will keep your attention and may make you blush a bit. :) I enjoyed the entire evening and had the chance to tell this to Perez Hilton, who mingled and danced among the crowd for the entire evening. Well done to all!- Great show- Go see it!!!!

perez has a great ear for new music

by kristaoguz on 9/11/09Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Semi precious weapons, ida marie and ladyhawke gave unbelievable performances. I was so thrilled to be able to see artists that are going to be super hot, in such an intimate venue. Perez danced around with us and was so nice! It was awesome. It is a shame that more people didn't get to hear these three incredible bands so if you are thinking about going to see perez hilton presents...you MUST go!!!
