Terrific trio of bands
by MTGBHB on 10/11/11Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5I only heard about The Expendables about a week ago, and Pepper shortly after that (I'm not originally from Cali, gimme a break). I of course immediately bought tickets to the next available show.
It was awesome. Ballyhoo opened, I'd never heard of them either but they were pretty damn good too, gotta say they knew how to work a crowd. The crowd, by the way, was awesome. Everyone seemed pretty friendly and I didn't see or hear of any fights. The security staff was real chill too, very reasonable and professional. I thought the wristband policy was a little silly considering how much space was left in the pit, but they let us in partway through the Expendables set so it's all good.
The Expendables put on a great show, excellent light work, they put me in a trance and I was super faded so I can't praise many specifics but I do remember having a good time.
Then Pepper came out and rocked everybody's socks off. Their lantern light things were disappointing at first, but they really kicked it up a notch for the later songs. They seriously know how to move a crowd and their new stuff is excellent.
