Paul Thorn at HoB in Houston

by SouthernLady on 5/18/10House of Blues Houston - Houston

I saw Paul Thorn at House of Blues in Houston on 5/14, and he was his usual amazing self. This was my third time seeing him, and I am still astonished that he hasn't been "discovered" by the masses. Great lyrics, songs that tell stories, great band ... what is there not to love? And it doesn't hurt that he is extremely easy on the eyes! I loved the intimacy of the Bronze Peacock room, and being able to get up close. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed (only a little!) that he didn't tell as many stories between songs as I have heard him do in the past. This is definitely part of his charm. I'm not complaining that I got more music ... just missed the stories! I also enjoyed the opening act, The Mighty Orq.

    Paul Thorn is a blast!

by ThornFan on 5/15/10House of Blues Houston - Houston

Paul Thorn and his band are very entertaining. He's a better songwriter than singer, but his live shows are made so much more fun by the anecdotes he adds during the show. He has a great sense of humor. His lead guitariest is really amazing. But the venue really sucked! The Bronze Peacock room at The House of Blues had no seating. I didn't realize that they really meant SRO, or I wouldn't have bought tickets.

    Paul Thorn at the Ark

by Lisa1965 on 3/28/10The Ark - Ann Arbor

This was our second trip to The Ark to see Paul Thorn. It's a great venue where no matter where your seat is you're up close. Paul Thorn is a wonderful story teller, musician, and entertainer.

    Paul Thorn and Elizabeth Cook

by MadtownSparty on 3/27/10The Ark - Ann Arbor

Both performers were good - Cook was more country but songs were good. Thorn is a clever songwriter with an excellent band. They could rock with the best. Thorn is entertaining with good chatter between songs. The show had a spiritual feel as paul told us his dad was a preacher.

    Paul Perfect!

by ExtraPoint on 7/21/09Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Paul Thorn performed yet another outstanding show. He and the PT Band are amazing each and every time we see them. Part of the charm of their concerts is the appreciation they seem to 'genuinely' have for their fans. Although their talent is incredible and brings their devoted fans back time and time again, Paul continues to interact with the crowd and "woo" the women with his smile and taut physique. He also listens and responds to his fans. But the music ... ah the music, that's what it is all about. His songs, both humorous & serious, touch a part of each fan and lures them into that special place. Our first PTB encounter was when they were the opening band years ago for Jr. Brown; we'd never heard of the PTB. The guy sitting next to us was astonished and said, "I follow him everywhere. I never miss a show." Then we thought he was crazy, now we understand.

    Paul Thorn was awesome!

    by Blondie48 on 7/19/098x10 - Baltimore

I had not heard of Paul Thorn prior to this event. I went to see him because I love listening to live music and the 8X10 club. Paul has a very thick Mississippi accent that comes through in his songs. He had a nice way of relating stories about growing up with a preacher father in Miss. (and an uncle that was a pimp). His music definitely rocked, was danceable and soulful all at the same time.He is very sexy in an understated way.

Paul Thorn was better than Great

by music4ever on 7/15/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

When I saw Paul Thorn at the House of Blues on Sunday night May 17,2009 I was shocked at the small amount of people in the audience. I saw no advertising and it was a Sunday night in this depressed economy. When the show started only 17 people were in the audience. After the second song Paul said if you will stomp your feet when you clap it will sound like a large crowd is here. He proceeded to do all request and after the fourth song, he grabbed his acoustic guitar, went over to a couch, sat down and played a solo set for an hour. This show was like Paul was in your living room playing for you and your friends. This was a once in a life time event . It had to be the best show I have ever seen. I'm sure it was sad for Paul with a small crowd, but he was GREAT! At the end of the solo set about 25 people were there. He got back on stage with his band and played about four more songs. What a GREAT show. Can't wait to see him again.

by RobTate on 7/13/09Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I have seen Paul Thorn several times over the past 5 years, twice at the Variety Playhouse and I must say that this is a great venue for him to play in. Paul is a tremendous talent and his band is amazing. He writes great songs that are funny at times but always deep and I can't wait to see him again. I would highly recommend anyone to go see Paul Thorn.

Paul Thorn at the Pontiac Garage

by BluesBaby on 7/12/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Paul Thorn played the Pontiac Garage, and this is my first time to see him live and also my first time in the Pontiac Garage. The show was on a Sunday night....which is often the 'kiss-of-death' in terms of attendance, unless the musician is very well-known. The place was not exactly packed. But those in attendance were true-blue fans! Seemed like nearly everyone knew all the words to all the songs. Paul did something I thought was really great - he asked the audience if it was ok for him to come down with us and just sit around and play his guitar and sing, since there werent that many people there. Everyone went crazy! He sat on one of the couches and we all surrounded him, and he told stories, took requests, and we gathered around 'Uncle Paul' asking him to tell us stories. He is so 'real' and unaffected, it was like sitting with a good friend in their house, letting them play and sing for us. It was such an intimate setting, everyone really felt lucky to have been part of the experience! And he is so entertaining and talented, with such a fun sense of humor, I will definitely see him again!
