PAUL THORN BAND IN CONCERT:
Blues rocker Paul Thorn proved his mettle opening for big names like Huey Lewis & the News and Jeff Beck, and he's firmly established his star power now that he's headlining the show. Thorn has assembled a talented and vibrant group of musicians for the Paul Thorn Band, and together they tear through irreverent favorites like "Pimps and Preachers" and "What the Hell Is Goin' On" with a party-starting energy that always gets fans rocking. From the first guitar riff to the last cymbal crash, these guys have a blast on stage, and ticket buyers lucky enough to catch them live will experience the fun firsthand.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Wisconsin-born, Mississippi-raised Paul Thorn was a professional boxer before music became his main gig. After winning several titles and fighting a nationally-televised match against a former world champion, Thorn hung up the gloves in favor of a factory job and a hobby as a musician. After several years of playing local gigs he was discovered by Miles Copeland, brother of The Police drummer Stuart Copeland, and soon after he signed a deal with A&M Records. He made his album debut on the label in 1997 with Hammer and Nail, following up with Ain't Love Strange in 1999 and Mission Temple Fireworks Stand in 2002. His potent rock sound and electric showmanship landed him on tour with acts like Toby Keith and Sting, and his animated performances on the road further grew his fanbase. In 2008 he released his fourth album A Long Way from Tupelo to a No. 7 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, supporting the release with late night TV appearances on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel. Since then Thorn has released two critically and commercially successful albums, and he continues to impress with rollicking performances on tour.

Once again a phenomenal show! Excellent musicians, amazing lyrics and great storytelling by Paul Thorn. The highest praises from someone who wants the type of high quality music played by 70s rock and blues bands. Unbeatable mixture of attitude and humility ....great show.
Wonderful engagement with the audience. Sing - a - longs, and stories. The lead guitarist was phenomenal!
Paul Thorn and his band never disappoint. He always puts on such a good show and has an incredible cult following. Everyone who goes to his shows absolutely loves his music, his lyrics and his humor. He is pretty easy on the eyes too! Love Dr. Love! The band truly rocks! We took our over 21 children this year and they loved it too! Always fun. Always entertaining. Variety is the best. It feels like a large living room with the PTB performing just for us. LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!
Pandora introduced us to Paul Thorn; we're devoted to their sound now. Concert was great. PTB served as their own opening act, so it was an evening of the group we came to hear. I would seek them out!
I have seen the Paul Thorn band many times and must say this concert was my favorite. Paul played many of the songs off the new CD-Too Blessed To Be Stressed. A Paul Thorn concert always leaves you smiling, energized and feeling thoroughly entertained. My husband and I see the band every time they come to our area and love introducing friends to the Paul Thorn band.
Event was awesome. One of the best shows Paul and the band have performed and we have seen many. The new acoustic opening set was great and Jeffrey was like a big kid with his beat box and percussion toys. The main set was a great mix of old classics and new and recent favorites. We introduced new fans to the band and they were hooked. The Birchmere staff was friendly and service was great. An overall excellent time.
Paul Thorn's lyrics and story telling are poignant, telling, entertaining, and hilarious! The Paul Thorn Band is very tight and talented, some of the best slide guitar I've heard since Rod Price. I will attend every PTB show possible.
Paul's show is always memorable. His wit and song writing abilities are second to none. The band is tight and flawless. A great group of guys.Fun, Fun Fun!
