About

PATTI LABELLE IN CONCERT:

Legendary R&B belter Patti LaBelle came of age at a time when the term "diva" wasn't used loosely — as a tireless performer and industry veteran, Ms. LaBelle earned her diva designation with hard work and pure, raw talent. Beloved by fans for her fiery live performances and sassy wit, Patti proved she was still in top form on her 2012/13 50th Anniversary Tour, consistently bringing down the house with electrifying renditions of classics like "Lady Marmalade" and "New Attitude." An indefatigable touring presence, Patti serves up more diva realness in 2014 with several highly anticipated appearances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Patti Labelle cut her teeth singing in church choir and several girl groups before settling into her role as frontwoman of namesake group LaBelle in 1970. Following minor success in the early part of the decade, LaBelle hit the big time in 1974 with "Lady Marmalade," which became their first No. 1 and remains one of the most popular songs of the disco era. In 1977, Patti released her self-titled solo debut album to positive reviews, wowing critics with her songwriting and prowess as a vocalist. A series of successful albums followed including 1986's Winner in You, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and received several Grammy nominations.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The show was the absolute best! I've never been so happy in all of my life to see Patti LaBelle live....she was great, her music was on point, the background singers were out of this world."

"Patti was great! The voice was superb and she hasn't lost a step. At 70 years young she is AMAZING!"

"It is wonderful to see a performer who truly enjoys entertaining the audience. I have been following Patti for 40 years and I have never been disappointed. She gives her all."

    Icon but short Appearance

by Repeat Fan on 4/17/24Seminole Center - Immokalee

I’ve seen Patti LaBelle before, this venue was small and intimate and short. The price point should have valued at $20 which was the vallet parking amount. This APPEARANCE mirrored a book signing. She sang Tennessee Whiskey when that could have been filled with her music. Lastly a tribute to a friend on such a short set nice but not good. I need my $294 refunded

    Absolutely amazing

by Tasha on 4/17/24Seminole Center - Immokalee

Honestly, honestly, if I wasn’t invited by my friend that was celebrating her birthday I don’t think I would’ve even paid attention to the concert information. She purchased the Tickets so that I can attend with her. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!!! They sung not lip sync to their music and had a full band…I LOVED IT!!!!! I’ve been to a 6 other concerts and festivals the last two years . Only 3 of the events I didn’t regret attending. I have to say, Patti LaBelle & The gospel tour is #1 and the Clearwater Jazz fest two years past is #2.

    Wonderful as usual

by Leeo on 3/29/24St. George Theatre - Staten Island

She was at The St. George Theater in Staten Island as part of their annual fund-raising gala. Over the past 30 years this is the 4th time I've seen Pattie Labelle as a solo performer and she always delivers. Her four back-up singers are superb as is her entire band. For almost two hours she poured her heart and soul into her performance. She's almost 80 years old and shows no sign of slowing down. I am looking forward to the next time she returns to New York City.

    Satisfying

by DWB on 3/27/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The reason I chose satisfying as a title is because I went hoping Patti would fill me with the joy I recalled she always gave me in my younger years. I got that and more. I am extremely grateful for this talented and gifted woman. She brought back beautiful memories and gave me some new ones as well and I had so much fun at the concert!

    Excitement

by Mrs. D on 3/26/24St. George Theatre - Staten Island

This was my first time at the St. George Theatre. The Theatre was beautiful. I was a little bit taken aback that the ushers did not have a better handle on people walking back and forth blocking people's view who were sitting trying to enjoy the concert. It was my son who is on the Autism Spectrum his first Patti Labelle concert. We had a great time. Love you, Patti. 💞 💞

    Awesome 👌 👏 👍

by Patti Labelle Fan on 3/26/24St. George Theatre - Staten Island

I took my dad to the show for his birthday and we both loved it. Patti does costume changes, brings fans on the stage, interacts with the fans in the audience. She makes you feel like she knows you personally. I also loved the songs she performed that evening. Patti Labelle is a must see!

    Disappointed

by Nettie on 3/26/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

If Patti had got on stage, sang the alphabet and walked off I would have given her no less than a 3 because it's Patti. However, that was most disappointing show I have gone to in a long time. Patti was not on stage very long and spent a lot of time allowing her backup singers to shine. This is admirable but we came to see Patti...and not for about 45 minutes of a two hour show! Time to get off the tour road.

by Adam C on 3/25/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Let me start with the disclaimer that I only went to this show because my wife wanted to see her and I figured that this might be the last opportunity, due to Miss Patti's advancing years, like all of us. First, Miss Patti still has the voice that made her the legend that she is and I was glad that I got the opportunity to be in its presence once. With that said, at "79 years young"Patti Labelle has lost a bit of the stamina that she had as the leader of Labelle and the Eighties hitmaker. I mention this not because the show was not entertaining or she looks her advanced age, she doesn't by the way; but because the show lasted about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half. During that time, Patti shares the stage and the spotlight with her very talented band, even taking a break for a couple of numbers for a wardrobe change. I mention this as a case of "buyer beware". If Patti Labelle shares the bill with another act, it would be worth every cent one would pay for this. Even if she just had brought on a comic or an unknown singer as an opener, it would've made up for the abbreviated performance.

    A great show!

by Linda on 3/25/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I had never been to this theater even though I live in back yard. The venue was great, the concert was excellent, and the staff handled the crowd wonderfully. We were in the second row and Patti LaBelle sang right to me!

    An Icon

by Camille on 3/25/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Patti LaBelle was phenomenal. Just shy of 80 years old and she can belt it out like no other! The audience was so pumped. So warm, gracious and engaging. She handed out flowers during the concert and called on people to participate on stage at the end. Never witnessed such power in a voice. She is the quintessential queen of soul!

    Good concert but not electrifying

by Peaches on 3/25/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

This was my first time seeing Patti live in concert and I think I was expecting the electrify concerts of old that I've heard about or seen on TV but this one didn't hit that mark. More singing by other people with her ad-libbing than I expected. I'd rather have her singing barefoot (I get it, she can't do the stilettos anymore) in one outfit than have precious singing time spent on outfit and shoes changes. Most of all, I didn't get to hear her sing my favorite song "Somewhere over the rainbow", it's what I went to the concert for. I don't think there should ever be a Patti Labelle concert without her singing this song (my opinion), it's legendary. All in all, good concert but not electrifying.
