His acoustic show was so good! Played so many different instruments! And a great bunch of songs
One of those shows that makes you wonder how someone can be that talented and play that many instruments when only 25. It was a small, intimate show, with a great choice of songs, and great performances all around by the band.
He is a wonderful performer and played a great set! The Tralf is a great venue to see a concert like this. There is seating available for old guys like me (52) yet plenty of room to view the concert down close. Patrick was high in energy and did not disappoint the crowd.
Jaguar Love was campy fun, if a bit ridiculous, the Plastiscines put on a decent show (nice outfits! lol), and the Living Things were ok, but the real reason to go was to see Patrick Wolf!! I knew he would be amazing, just because he is a phenomenal musician, but listening to his music at home is really NOTHING compared to seeing him perform, as he completely owns the stage and has developed his stage persona to an art.
I knew Patrick was coming and when. I hadn't made up my mind to go to his show and I hadn't purchased tickets until the day of the show. What made me decide to go? I met Patrick in person the night before his show at another club in Minneapolis. He was very cool and genuine. I couldn't help but change my mind about going to see his show after that. To get a friend to go with me, I even bought her ticket. It was well worth it. Patrick played all of my favorite material and WAS truly amazing. The boy is filled with talent. He has the most amazing voice and plays several different instruments. Yes, I knew all of this, but seeing is absolutely believing! His personalitly really came out when he told stories about writing the songs he was going to sing. He is just a truely PURE talent and an awesomely amazing performer!! Would see him again in a heartbeat!
His use of dynamics with tempo, mood, genre was amazing, going from sweet piano to hardcore dance to violin folk... very impressive.
The Patrick Wolf concert at the Middle East in Cambridge was the best LIVE show that I've ever been to. Wolf is absolutely amazing! His energy and stage presence are beyond description and his fabulous voice and instrumental talents are even better LIVE that recorded. I cannot wait to catch one of his performances again in the future.
It was a great set of bands for sure. Break down between sets took too long that was the only set back, or our head liner was taking too long to do his hair :}
Patrick was *amazing*! The show was so much fun & the venue was nice and small - but not crowed or anything. It took each band a little while to set up, so there was hang time in between each set, but that was kind of nice because I got to chat with other fans and get to know some new people. The whole evening was wonderful and unforgettable - I was pretty close to the front and was able to get some really good pictures.The Plastiscines & Living Things were also really good and lots of fun - It was just an awesome show. :)
There was no indication anywhere that there will be so many peiople performing before Patrick Wolf takes the stage by....11 PM??? So my friends and I had to stand for over 3 hrs watching bands we had no interest in..., most of them not even good. So around 10:45 or so, before Wolf was going to take the stage we just had enough of this nonsense and decided to call it a loss and left the venue. However NYLON was pretty good, in that retro, we are The Bangles, we are the GoGos kind of way.
