Opening band was actually really, really good (can't remember the name, but a blues-based 4-piece). Rick Derringer came on and played a bunch of new material, a few oldies (Hang On Sloopy, Rock & Roll Hootchie Coo). His bass player was a character on stage (played a 5-string left-handed, but strung right-handed). Rick's solo's were okay, but you can tell he is not at the top of his game any longer. Still, a respectable performance.
Pat Travers was why most of us came I assume, and he didn't disappoint.
He played a great selection of his older material, plus 3 or 4 from a new CD he just released. I saw PT back in the mid-80's, and the Pat Thrall/Tommy Aldridge/Mars Cowling line-up was THE best. His band last night was good, but not of the same caliber.
PT still sounds great, plays well, and has a good sense of humor. It certainly looked like Paul Reed Smith endorsement, as every guitar he and his co-guitarist played was a PRS.
