Group is absolutely amazing and has reinvented itself with new music, but within the classic Metheny mantra. This was an AMAZING concert and employed use of electronic technology coupled to classical instruments and percussion which provided additional affects
Probably the best show I've ever been to. It is rare to hear musicians who have mastered their respective instruments and can play just about anything. Pat Metheny and his group have achieved this level.
My husband and I were among the fortunate few to be in the audience Saturday night. The concert went non-stop for 2.5 hours. The audience was psyched from the get-go and the musicians proved themselves worthy of our accolades. There was great variety and rhythm in the set and they played with such intensity at times that it reminded me of the fever pitch that is typical of great Qawwali singers in India. Yes, this was a spiritual experience. Pat Metheny is truly worthy of all the Grammy awards he has received and still he comes across as a very humble and sweet man with great respect for his band mates.
So happy that Pat Metheny was able to put Durham back on his tour, after an ice storm cancelled his February date! My husband and I have had the pleasure of seeing him perform twice before over the past 30 years, and this time we were so happy to include one of the next generation of Pat fans in our concert experience: our 24 year old son. Pat and the band blew us all away! He just keeps on inspiring!!! Go Pat go...
I have been waiting 20 years to see Pat Metheny and it was worth it.He is unbelievable, such a talent! It was a wonderful concert.I just wish the theater didn't sell alcohol and popcorn because then you sit next to people who really stink!
I "went" mainly for Bruce Hornsby, but thoroughly enjoyed Pat Metheny (more). Bruce Hornsby only played "The Way It is" from his hits - - he should have played more of them. Pat Metheny is immensely talented - great performance
Sorry to say I found Pat Metheny's music-boring!!!
This was one incredible show. Bruce and Pat opened the show with a campfire style sit down. Playing traditional and new songs. Bruce continued for the next 45 minutes with his drummer and they sound fantastic. Pat and his band took to the stage for at least an hour and a half. They really brought the Metheny magic. Pat even played an "unplugged" set of his most memorable hits. Bruce returned to the stage and together they delighted the audience with Bruce's hit "That's Just Way it Is". This show is a must see. Limited dates, so catch it while you can. I had excellent box seats next to the stage. Perfect!!!
Two men who's mastery of their instruments is amazing.
This has to be one of the best performances I have ever seen
Two musical Geniuses come together for an unforgettable music experience
The music was beyond anything I could ever expect. It moved to to tears from the pearcing beauty of it. The ability to move and weave and create higher and higher music was indescribably brilliant. First my mind tried to understand then I just let go and let the music move through me - heart and soul. THANK YOU ! Bruce Hornsby and Pat Metheny and All of the incredible musicians.
Pat was great, he is constantly changing his style and improving his concerts. Bruce needs to go back and play the music that put the pool in his back yard. That noise he was pounding away on was not enjoyable and his opinions of his previous audiences was like listening to old guy at McDonald's that is pissed off with life... Pat needs to pick a better artist to tour with, Bruce is a has-bin..
I went primarily to see Bruce Hornsby. He was a shell of his former self played 3 older songs that made him famous and the rest was garbage. Probably will not see him again !
This concert was probably one of the best I have ever attended in my lifetime (and I have seen A LOT of concerts in my 57 years!). A MUST SEE!!!
All performers were excellent except Hornsby is dull. Metheny: Outstanding
I’ve been a fan of Pat’s since 1979 when American Garage came out, but hadn't seen him live in nearly 8 years. I'd never seen Bruce live. Sonny Emory was a revelation. The cats were amazing, performing in various groupings. Among the highlights were Bruce’s mandolin-less Mandolin Rain, Pat’s acoustic medley of his songs, and both bands joining together for The Way It Is as a final encore. Every musician blew me away!
Bruce Hornsby was the only highlight of the night but it would have been better if he would play more classic songs that made him famous
Loved the Hornsby/Metheny combo but wished the concert would have been more evenly split or that the whole gang would have done more songs together. The talent level on stage was phenomenal.
