Parker McCollum won't be pigeonholed, and that's by design -- the Texas native is all about paving his own road. He spent his summers working on a cattle ranch for his blue-collar grandfather, who also introduced him to country music. Hearing George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning" for the first time, McCollum was struck. "That is still, to this day, one of my favorite songs, favorite melodies of all time," he told Billboard in 2020. By 13, McCollum began writing songs; by 16, he began playing clubs. For inspiration, he turned to Texas troubadours like Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, and James McMurtry, lyrical writers who built rich worlds and characters in the confines of a single song. After graduating from high school, McCollum headed to Austin, Texas, the self-proclaimed "Music Capital of the World." A stint in college didn't last -- McCollum spent more time in class writing songs than paying attention. Dropping out, he made a promise to his father: One day, I'll sign a major record deal.
McCollum worked the red dirt circuit for years, playing empty bars that slowly began filling up. He released his first full-length album, The Limestone Kid, on his own label in 2015. McCollum wrote nine of the 11 tracks himself. The Austin Chronicle said, "It's too early to declare The Limestone Kid debut of the year, but it's already one to beat." His follow-up, the self-released Probably Wrong: Session One, was McCollum's first to hit the Billboard charts. Then, after five years of full-time touring, McCollum made good on his promise, signing with Universal Music Group.
"Pretty Heart," his first single with UMG, went straight to the top of the country charts. It appears on his album, Gold Chain Cowboy, the title reflecting McCollum's desire for success -- a man that's earned enough to wear a gold chain -- with the down-home appeal of living as a simple cowboy, just like his grandfather. Chances are, Parker McCollum will have a little of both. After winning New Male Artist of the Year at the 2022 American Country Music Awards, an exciting future awaits.
The whole concert was great! Best thing to come to lake Charles in a long time!!
Amazing! Love how he sings so many of his songs! You actually feel like your money is well spent! We will see him again when he’s close!
Great Venue, excellent opening acts & fabulous headliner
Absolutely loved this concert. I am a huge fan of his and love the majority of his songs. He has a great voice live and is definitely a natural born entertainer. If he comes back here or close by I will definitely be attending his show!
10/10. spend the money. (if you have if of course) go to the concert. get a 10.50$ beer. and have a blast.
It was a great show and the arena team always does a good job.
Parker McCollum at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah Georgia was incredible! Parker interacted with the crowd and sang his heart out! A night to remember.
he stopped the show four times during hell of a year because people kept passing out, he got them all medical attention and water. really caring guy and made sure everyone was having a good time.
Parker was amazing and I’d definitely go see him again. We were looking forward to seeing Corey Kent open up for Parker but someone different showed up… have no idea why… disappointing for sure!
Great show! Even the opening bands were really good, looking forward to seeing more from Parker!
It was an awesome show! We will definitely be back to see more shows.
Parker McCollum was a great performer and I loved his interaction with the crowd. I’m an even bigger fan now!
We purchased pit tickets and meet and greet tickets. I have purchased several tickets through Ticketmaster and have overall had a good experience. Parker McCollum is an amazing entertainer but also an overall good guy! Very personable and attentive to what is going on in the audience with people crying, getting upset and passing out. Never been to a concert that was so interactive ! He really made us feel like part of the show. The venue however, at colonial life was a great size and made for a more intimate experience than a big arena but lacked in personal accommodations. Waiting outside in cold under a cover and then after asked for us to move into the rain to set up metal detectors but yet didn’t open for another hr while they peered through the window at us. I felt the set up could have been better for entry to allow ticket holders to stay out of the rain.
Parker is outstanding! Perfect concert! He is the best! Buy your tickets now if you get the chance!!!!!
The concert was awesome! Had a great time. The opening acts were great also. Loved how Parker McCullum interacted with the crowd. Sounded great live. Nice to see an actual band at a concert.
