About

As the first group to land an extreme metal album at No. 1 on the BIllboard 200, Pantera became overnight torchbearers of the genre, paving the way for a long and successful reign that shows no signs of slowing . In 2013, Pantera frontman, Phil Anselmo, and bassist, Rex Brown, reunited and joined Anthrax on stage at the Revolver Golden God Awards show. Performing "This Love" from their 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power," Anselmo's voice reminded fans of the unbridled brutality the band was capable of in its heyday. The energy Pantera crammed into their live act cannot be measured by any earthly means. The shredding licks of Dimebag Darrel, backed by Vinnie Paul's solid, world-shattering drums rounded out a power-packed concert that was everything American metal should be. The band treated ticket holders to speed metal of a truly high caliber, as entire arenas seemed to erupt in torrents of high-speed thrashing to a Texas-bred cacophony that was anything but ordinary.

When Anselmo joined the band in 1987, and the band released their breakthrough album 1990's "Cowboys From Hell," little remained of their glam and hair metal origins, and replacing those was an entirely fresh, raw presence that had no equal. After releasing "Vulgar Display of Power" in 1992, Pantera toured with tremendous success. The shocking assassination of Dimebag Darrell in 2004 sadly put an end to any hopes of a reunion, but the memory lives on in singles like "Mouth for War" and "Walk," both from "Vulgar Display of Power." Vulgar's follow-up, "Far Beyond Driven," topped its predecessor with even more raw thunder. Pantera will be remembered as a band that ushered in the new thrash, for nothing was ever the same after they arrived. As they may very well be the fathers of modern metal, they were truly greater than the sum of their parts.

Do not sit this one out.

    by KPhillips412 on 7/31/23

If you're on the fence (as I was), or against the remaining members performing without Vinnie and Dime, I advise you don't sleep on this. I decided to go, and was in awe at what I was witnessing. I saw Pantera three or four times in the early 90s with the original lineup so I have something to go off of and compare to. They did the brothers right, picked the right players to step in, and absolutely CRUSHED it. Vinnie and Dime's presence was very apparent throughout the entire show as well. This didn't feel like a tribute or a cover band, it felt like I was back in 1991 through 1994 watching Pantera destroy everything.

Great until it was time to leave..........

    by JP on 7/31/23

Having thousands of people penned into the West Entrance with only ONE gate open to exit is asking for a Hillsborough Disaster to happen. Starlake needs to address this asap. People became unruly and started hopping the gates, as folks were naturally moving further and further towards the exit. Police intervened saying it was "trespassing", which it can't be as people were obviously just wanting to return to their vehicles and leave. If Burgettstown police can't figure out how to safely get people out of the venue, maybe they should contract officers from neighboring municipalities to help. This could have gotten ugly very quickly.

Great show. Venue is alright once you get there.

    by Snedge on 7/31/23

Showed up a little late because of an accident on 376, so getting to reserved parking was painless. I highly recommend paying up for the better parking option. Otherwise, the walk to the gate is very long. The refreshments and food where as expected, ridiculous. Paying 10 times the value for a beer is just sad.

Amazing show at a cool venue

    by FinnRyke on 7/31/23

Wasn't sure what to expect as we have not been to this venue. The layout was amazing and the vendors were all very courteous making this an all around great experience. The opportunity to take my sons to see Pantera was incredible.

    AWESOME TRIBUTE

    by Brian on 7/31/23

I was just in middle school when Pantera was at their height of fame and became a fan later in life. This was a great opportunity to experience the music live even though I know it's not the same as it once was. In my opinion, it's really cool they put this tour together, and you'll regret not going if you're a fan at all because they killed it. Lamb of God put on a headline performance as well.

    Absolutely mind blowing! 🤘😎

    by ScoMenZ on 7/31/23

From the venue to the show, it was an amazing evening. As a long time fan. The care and reverence put into the memory of the brothers. Bringing the music back after 22 years. Something I never believed I would witness again. It was truly a dream come true for this old metal head. It's been over two days now, and it's still replaying in my mind. So grateful for this amazing experience.

    Pantera

    by Ice on 7/31/23

Easy parking, got into the gate quickly, and consessions weren't too bad. Leaving still takes a while so just prepare to wait an hour or 2 and then you won't have to deal with the backed up traffic but overall really good and really clean.

Saw them at Welcome to Rockville in May 2023 and it was by far the best show of the festival. The pit was unbelievable (check it out youtube). Going to see the again as they tour with Lamb of God.

    Pantera saved me…

    by Zane on 4/29/23

I have seen Pantera live over 200 times with the Abbott brothers, we all know it won’t be the same, but we can show up and celebrate the Abbott brothers and what they created, I saw Pantera last year, I admit it was a bit rough, but it’s sounding better, I also bought Pantera tickets with Lamb Of God, plenty of chances to see them!

    by Buis on 1/21/23

Not the real PANTERA, but have fun listening to a mediocre version of the original. Seen them 5 times in the 90’s. Phils voice is shot and he lets the crowd sing most of the songs.
