    Paddington @ DR2 review

by Coop on 2/19/20DR2 - New York

No long lines to get in because venue holds less than 100 people. It was like a small movie theater. Our seats were last row (row N) and the seats were good. We do not have great eyesight and we could see the stage/show just fine. The show was funny and entertaining! I am not a fan of shows in general but this was very good. Took my 3 and 6 year olds, they watched the whole thing! Usually I’m chasing them in the hallways! Of course you get some adults sitting in front of you but this can happen in any row (except row A, which is too close) and usually you are playing musical chairs with your kids because this one wants to sit next to that one, or sit on a lap and the people in front of you are doing the same thing. One hour is long enough for the show.

Sweet show and great cast and staff!

    by L. on 2/19/20DR2 - New York

This is a sweet show that is not too long or complicated for young children to sit through. The theatre is small and comfortable and the staff there was warm and welcoming. I would not recommend bringing babies; some parents brought their babies or very young toddlers and they cried a lot which can be disruptive. I’d say the show is best for ages 3 to 8. We met the talented cast afterwards and they were great! Everyone made us feel like they appreciated having us there as their guests which was very nice.

    An actual play for toddlers

by Banglaricobros on 2/11/20DR2 - New York

This isn't one of those "kids show on stage" shows with bubbles and random songs. This is an actual play with a funny, kid friendly story line. I think it was a great first real theatre experience for my kids who are 5 and 2. So glad they didn't sell a bunch of junk at the venue either!

    Paddington gets in a jam

    by L. K. on 1/22/20DR2 - New York

Inappropriate for young ages. The man was upset a great deal of the time which bothered the children.I heard a few children saying they wanted to leave. My grandson had a bad dream about the show but would not talk about it.All he said was that the show was sad.

The production was ‘okay’ but way to short.

    by I.Rose on 1/2/20DR2 - New York

My almost 4 year old granddaughter first words after the production was over was ‘why is it so short’. Could be extended another 15 minutes or so.

Paddington and the set is beautifully done. Adorable antics by Paddington & his neighbor, Mr. Curry. Lots of laughter from the kids (and adults too).

    Four YO and 18 MO

by KikiB on 12/24/19DR2 - New York

A great experience for all of us. The right length, the right amount of comedy and pace. My 18 MO loves bears and was very excited to see a moving bear on stage. The 4 YO loves the slapstick classic Paddington comedy. He’s been watching and reading the Paddington series for a while now. We enjoyed it

    Great for all ages!

by Strawberry on 12/17/19DR2 - New York

This show was so great for our 6 year old! He would have loved it at 4 and 5, too. There were younger children in the audience although I’m not sure how much of the show they understood given that it’s performed in British accents and expressions that we had to whisper to explain to our 6 year old (one major joke that follows through the story where this line is repeated “I made a portrait in the likeness of my great-aunt Matilda“ aka “I painted a picture of my great-aunt Matilda“) but some of the humor was visual and explicit enough that we heard some giggles from the littles. It’s definitely a good show for 3+ as a gateway to experiencing theater. We had a baby with us, too, who made it through the whole show being held (I was able to stand in the stairwell since we bought aisle seats). The sounds aren’t too loud, nothing scary, silly humor. It’s an hour long, perfect for little attention spans. The theater is small and intimate so all seats have a good view and everyone has children so if there’s some crying or acting out everyone there probably sympathizes and you can easily make an exit for a cool down if needed. Fun for adults, too. We’ve made an annual trip out of seeing shows at this theater and love it! Good job, cast and crew!!
