Great time! Music, the locals scene, the venue. Nothing missing...except of course all the hair! Probably a good thing. I'll be there again!
The Pablo Cruise musicians blew us away, all super talented and worked really hard for the show. The keyboard player is so strong, also plays classical and the lead singer/guitarist, and rhythm guitar players were equally star studded and harmonized beautifully. The drummer is one of the ones that gets the crowd on their feet screaming. I had no idea we would enjoy the show this much. Harrahs showroom is a really nice size, not a bad seat in the house unless you are too close the speakers on the extreme left and right of stage, and staff was organized and friendly - bars did a good job.
I went with high expectations as I love Pablo Cruise. We ended up walking out after 3-4 songs. The sound was so loud my head started throbbing and the music distorted. I was terribly disappointed as I would have loved to stay for the entire concert. Maybe I will be able to catch them at another venue where the person operating the soundboard has more sense.
excellent show. traveled near 1,000 miles to see them again (last shows 30+ yrs prior). small venue (about 450 max) with great view and sound. played all their hits and were very interactive amongst themselves and the audience, making jokes and telling stories. really miss the late, and great, Bud Cockrell and Bruce Day though Mr Antonino is equally talented and blends very well.
I was surprised that a small venue could product such a great sound. Rocking isn't the word for it since the music was perfectly performed and the sound was perfect. Each member had his "place in the sun" and took each solo to great heights with rythum and sound that just blew you away. I watched the keyboard player, since we were on the front row and you could see the intense concentration in every solo he had. The guitar player was spot on and played every lick straight from the album. I became a fan all over and throughly enjoyed myself. They make some beautiful music that really ROCKS!!!!!!! Dean
I've been a huge fan since I first saw them at UF in '77. Waited impatiently for a chance to see them again, and more than 30 years later, finally got my wish. The three original members, Dave Jenkins, Cory Lerios, and Steve Price still have the musical talent and charisma that it takes to bring the crowd to its feet. And their newest member, Larry Antonino, adds the finishing touch to the vocals. The venue where they appeared was perfect for a band like Pablo Cruise: intimate and with good acoustics. Pablo Cruise lived up to my expectations for an unforgettable trip down memory lane.
They sound great together - their voices mesh so well! Enjoyed the small more intimate setting!
should have stayed at home! guess their voices are shot!
The last time my wife and I saw Pablo Cruise was at UCF in Orlando in the early 80's. Gary U.S. Bonds was the opening act. Well, they didn't miss a beat in Saturday's set. Sure, a little older and vocals a little stretched, but every bit a fantastic concert. The intensity of keyboardist and the drummer? They were so intense I thought they were both going to have a coronary. They can really play...
As a young girl growing up in the 70's, I spent countless hours in my bedroom listening to my Pablo Cruise 8 Track Tapes over & over & over again. I never had the opportunity to see them live. To finally see them now @ 40+ was awesome. Thanks for allowing me to relive all those back in the day memories!
Totally enjoyed seeing Pablo Cruise after 20+ years!! Their music was as if they've never left us.....Cory's insane piano, David's still awesome, and Bruce totally rocked us! Even the newcomer replacement (whose name escapes me) was outrageously great! The music brought me back to high school days....loved, loved, loved the concert!! The stage/venue at Aloha Tower was the perfect setting. With the sunset in the background, the tradewinds blowing and the palm tree shadows, it was better than anything man-made.
This was just like one of those old school concerts from the past. Friends coming up on stage, long instrumentals during the songs, musicians who know what to do with their instruments. This is what true musical talent is all about. They kept the croud involved with stories of many of the songs. These guys kept it going for a solid 2 hours and kept the energy going all the way to the end. It wasn't just a concert, it was a festival atmosphere that was FUN.
Pablo Cruise was the Bomb! Loved the music, people, and the atmosphere. Ocean front with the moon shinning up above, it just doesn't get any better. Pablo Cruise's energy and instrumental was amazing. I loved the song they picked to end the night, it just put everyone in a satisfying state. They did an amazing hana ho! Can't wait to see them back real soon.
It was so nice to have a concert here on Kauai, and it was great to see Pablo Cruise, I have always enjoyed his music. Please bring more to Kauai........... The group prior to Pablo was not enjoyable at all, and I was not the only unhappy person that sat thru his music.....
I would have to say that the entire venue was outstanding for the night as the rock band was awesome as well as our local girl! There was so drama or lewdness and everyone seemed to be in the mood to have fun.
After nearly 30 years I got the chance to go and see Pablo Cruise. I remembered during the show that I used to listen to them in my Mickey Mouse style Pioneer headphones and would just get lost in the guitar work and percussion. It was well worth the wait! They were awesome. The sound system had issues so the guitar and vocals would come and go but since it was basically a ballroom at the Marriott, not an outdoor arena or concert hall, thats how it goes. They played their hits and had a couple of guests, with a great mix of older and newer songs, each of the band members had a solo or show song and overall it was a very good evenings worth of fond memories and great entertainment. If you get the chance, by all means, go and take a friend!
It was a wonderful night with a tradewind breeze listening to the sounds of Pablo Cruise. They rocked the house. Cory was wonderful on the piano. Man that guy has fast fingers and hands. I just wish there was another concert to go to. I would be there hands down.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening with Pablo Cruise, Kapono Beamer, Yvonne Elliman, Fiji. Sunset at the Aloha Tower Marketplace was gorgeous!
