    Basic

by Ced on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

The story was good, but the live performance is not worth the price. You’re better off watching the series at home for free, than to spend $75 for the show.

    Amazing!

by Dolly on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

My husband and I saw the show together and we both thought it was amazing. Everything about it was excellent. We love to watch our planet and we love exploring our planet so the entire show was right up our alley. The orchestra was amazing. The changing of the lights just everything. I have not stopped talking about it to family and friends. My sister even bought tickets to take her family to see it in Houston Texas. I would love to experience it again.

    Great music, screen needs improvement

by Susie on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

Wonderful music and musicians and conductor! Screen needs to be huge curved display for everyone to enjoy- Hard to see, and way too much talking. Please refrain from the bright light that blind you and draw away from the show rather than add to it. Thanks!!

    Enjoyable

by Matt on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

We were entertained with the show. The production was well done, however the orchestra was small and didn't supply the whole soundtrack. Purcussion instruments were a dominant part of the music, however they were not represented in the live orchestra. I found this annoying and disappointing. I was continuously trying to figure out what part of the music was playing live and what was recorded.

    Disappointed

by Poppy on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

I don’t blame the producers, I blame the venue and Ticketmaster for a less than exciting experience. The seating chart was misleading. For having purchased 6 months in advance, we had horrible seats. So far off to the side in the balcony, the stage lighting was in our eyes to excess, and the screen lost its depth of color. I’d have enjoyed this more at home on my 55” TV. Further, where did William Shatner come from? Can’t stand the guy! Mr. Conservation reading from a teleprompter is really not the face or voice we all came to see or listen to. He was NOT the name that sold me those tickets. The beloved Sir David Attenborough who got an immediate round of applause when he first spoke, is our host. Every time the filming was interrupted to look at him we were aggravated. And, what happened to the rest of the 44 piece orchestra??? Only 18 pieces, which was lovely, but the write up specifically says a 44 piece orchestra, the selling point for my buying this gift for my husband for Christmas. The idea, the footage, the intent of the show was wonderful. However, from the misleading lousy seating, lighting in our face, to the 1/3 orchestra, this was more amateur than the giant professional stage production than we were on the edge of our seats expecting to see. We’re ok though hoping our ticket dollars will support CPA & as they promised, educating children about conservation. WWF better not spend it on duck hunting!

    Overpriced

by Esp63 on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

The Our Planet documentary is worth watching on Netflix and already comes with an admirable soundtrack. The live orchestra was decent but just played over the film's soundtrack causing dissonance instead of resonance. There we're stage lights which flickered and moved around the screen and stage making it difficult to view the film. Sometimes they'd glare into our eyes temporarily blinding us. This combination along with was too much and we couldn't wait to get out, staying in hopes it would get better. This should have been priced a bit more than a 4D movie so we felt gauged at over $50.

    Amazing

by Salma on 3/6/23San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

This was a great event that is different from the typical movie-show options and was a beautiful way to spend the evening. The orchestra was amazing to hear live and they did such a great job complementing the emotions of the animals in the documentary. Thank you!
