OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN IN CONCERT:
Olivia Newton John is one of the top-selling recording artists of all time, but to many fans she'll forever be doe-eyed Sandy from the 1978 blockbuster film Grease. Newton John's Summer Nights residency at the Flamingo in Las Vegas takes its name from one of Grease's most popular musical numbers, and a medley of beloved songs from the film's soundtrack provides the centerpiece of the show. Newton John rounds out the experience with pitch-perfect performances of her early country material, songs from the Xanadu soundtrack, and pop hits like "Physical", making for an unforgettable night of career-spanning hits, something true fans won't want to miss.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in England and raised in Australia, Olivia Newton John got her start performing with a short-lived Melbourne girl group called Sol Four. She appeared on various Australian TV programs before traveling to Britain in 1966 to record her debut single "Till You Say You'll Be Mine". In 1971 she released her first solo album If Not For You, scoring her first No. 1 hit with the title track and landing another hit with follow-up single "Banks of the Ohio". In addition to landing seven consecutive No. 1's on the Adult Contemporary chart during the '70s, she experienced considerable success as a country artist with a popular cover of John Denver's classic hit "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and her Top 10 hit "Let Me Be There", which earned her a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The pinnacle of her fame came in 1978 with her starring role in the musical film Grease and its accompanying soundtrack, which spent 12 weeks at No. 1 and still appears on Billboard's Top Soundtracks chart today. The '80s saw Newton John shed her good-girl image in favor of the edgier look and sound as she unveiled on 1981's "Physical", an international smash and the decade's top-selling single in the US. In 2014 she debuted her Summer Nights residency show at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, earning praise from critics and fans alike for her elegant performances and perfectly preserved voice.
Olivia still has that beautiful voice. I would definetely would love to go see her again in the future.
I bought the tickets for a friend. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself. To start off, the venue was fantastic. Clean, comfortable and not a bad seat available. Olivia started on time and kept the show moving throughout. She was lively and fun and did a history of her career through song. It was fantastic. I also bought the meet and greet tickets for charity and she was friendly and warm in person as well. A fun experience for my friend who is a super fan. I highly recommend this show.
I bought these tix for my wife who is a lifelong ONJ fan. Usually I just go to these concerts with her to be a good husband and spend time together. I will admit that sometimes I'm chompin' at the bit for some of these shows to end, I can't say that about Olivia. I'm a Hard Rock/Rock genre kind of guy, but I like to mellow things out once in a while too. Olivia Newton John is talented, classy, sexy, witty, and beautiful. Now I know why my wife has been a diehard fan for so long. I actually knew 75% of her songs, and she sounded GREAT!! I would definitely take my wife to see her again with no reservations about it.
She was great!!! Olivia still has her voice. All her songs were just like she recorded them.
Olivia was fantastic! Her voice is as great as ever.
Just as beautiful and gracious as ever, Olivia Newton-John graced the stage at Caesar's in AC on Friday, and it felt like an old friend returning! After giving us decades of great entertainment, Olivia's voice is as strong as ever - even better! The rich nuance of her ballads seem deeply filled with emotion and maturity these days. And all those hits! What a career! And what a pleasure! Kudos Olivia! And thanks! Linda P
good show, am recommending to see it. brought back old memories
Olivia sounded and looked fantastic. She was on stage for two hours and it was such an enjoyable down to earth show. No big band behind her, no stage changes, no dress changes. Just three back up singers, guitar, piano and drums. She sang all of her oldies and a few new ones....even a couple of Christmas songs. I loved it and would definitely go see her again. She was wonderful!!!
Being a fan since 1976, living in Italy I never experienced her in concert and I was obviously very excited to be able to do that: the point is that she has been much better than what I expected. didn't miss a single note, her voice in perfect shape and yes, a great entertainer: the only thing I might have to say, but this is only for true fans, is that maybe she didn't really renew herself in years, being her show approximatevely the same she did in the 80's, 90's and '00: ok she has to sing her hits, but for example the country medley is exactly the same since now 30 and more years. She was very nice meeting fans after the concert, those who bought a special ticket to benefit her Cancer Center in Australia. Her humanity surpasses sometimes her talent.
The show was great; ONJ sounded as good now as she did 30 years ago, which is amazing to be able to say. My 7-year-old went to the show as her first "grown-up concert," and was enthralled. (She was a little bored when it was songs she didn't know, but she'll learn.) A special moment was when ONJ called Didi Conn (Frenchy) out of the audience to help her with a song or two; Didi came out later after the show and signed autographs. A wonderful show. The theater was also extremely helpful. We had balcony seats, but between the order and the show I was in a car accident and am currently using a walker; BergenPAC switched our seats without any fuss at all!
Show was over 2 hours non stop. All the great hits n even new ones. Love Her..... MUST SEE
Great Artist, Great show, Great venue. We've seen Olivia 5 or 6 times now and just one was in AC and the rest were here. She does a fantastic show and I look forward to another show in the future as much as my wife. There were no photos allowed and the staff at the BPAC were right on top of some of those with cameras, but not all. OLN seemed to not mind the pictures as she posed for a few fans during the show.
Olivia was fantastic . It was the third time I've seen her and she was the best ever . Great seats .
I have never seen Olivia live and I was a bit concerned on how good her vocal's would be, but as soon as she started her vocals were perfect. She sounded just like the records and looked great. The only thing was her band that were a bit bland compared to her vocals.
Olivia was great! She did a wonderful variety of songs. The energy was great. Only disappointment was having to wait almost 25minutes between opening act and Olivia.
Great combination of old favorites and newer songs.
Olivia's voice is still unbelievably clear and beautiful. She sang for two hours straight and was flawless. The venue was not the best tho. Seats were uncomfortable, and the sound system was not the best. But it was well worth it tho. Olivia's song list comprised her very first hit, "If not for you", to her newest soon to be released title track from her latest movie, "A Few Best Men". Totally worth every Penney.
I have admired her since her performance in Grease. Her performance and especially the range of her voice was fantastic. She is a great personality on stage. The show was well planned and kept on moving. Her band was magnificent. Great show!!
I thought theshow was great but the only thing that i really did not like was almost half hour of waiting after the first appearance. It did not make sense to start the show at 8:45pm
I bought tickets for my 12 yr old daughter who is a 'new' Grease fan. She loved Olivia Newton Johns concert! Bergen PAC in Englewood, NJ is a great location..no NY traffic, easy parking, great restaurants nearby!
