Oklahoma City Thunder History
The Oklahoma City Thunder were originally founded as the Seattle SuperSonics in 1967. The SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 after qualifying for the NBA playoffs 22 times, winning their division six times, advancing to three NBA Finals, and winning the NBA Championship in 1979.
The Thunder are now the only major professional sports team in Oklahoma. After relocating to Oklahoma City, the Thunder qualified for their first playoffs in the 2009–10 season. During the 2010–11 season, they won their first division title and the following season they won their first Western Conference championship.
The 2011–12 season marked the team’s first appearance in the NBA Finals since 1996, but they have not yet won a championship since moving to Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Thunder's name comes from a reference to Oklahoma's location in Tornado Alley, and Oklahoma City being the home of the U.S. Army's 45th Infantry Division, which were known as the Thunderbirds.
The Thunder began their rebuilding process in 2019 after acquiring All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and drafting top prospects including Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren. The new era Thunder qualified for the 2023 play-in game and won their first matchup, but ultimately did not advance to the playoffs after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Following the 2023–24 season, head coach Mark Daigneault won the league’s Coach of the Year Award.
The team won their first NBA Championship as the Thunder in 2025.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center
The Thunder have played in the same arena since Oklahoma City acquired the franchise in 2008, but it underwent several name changes before settling on Chesapeake Energy Arena in 2011. In 2021, its name was changed to Paycom Center(Opens in new tab).
But the volume and rowdiness of that college atmosphere has carried over into Thunder games, giving the metro's arena and fanbase the nickname "Loud City.” OKC has also taken to color blocking its crowd, giving different sections different colored shirts, a practice that has spread and become common among all teams in the NBA.

The hospitality of the Thunder fans and staff was amazing…
We had a great experience in club seating!! Loved the fewer people, but still had food and drink options.
I have fallen in love with our OKCITY Thunder! I purchase a single ticket and get as close as I can. I have two favorite sitting areas that I prefer. The energy in the arena is contagious. This has been an incredible season for our OKC thunder basketball team. I am declaring myself, the thunders. Good luck charm. Every game that I have attended this season the Thunder have won! Golden state 138-136 Utah 134-120 Dec 11 Denver 118-117 Dec 11 Memphis 116-97 LA Clippers 134-115 Dec 21 I had a ticket for the Thunder vs The Lakers but due to a back spasm. I decided to sell my ticket for face value. My next game will be Minnesota Dec 26 And the New York Dec 27. Thunder Up!
Our tickets were on row MM. We could not see the court from there. Fortunately there were vacant seats higher up and we moved up and had a great view.
Loved the game took .y daughter as a early Christmas gift we enjoyed ourselves they played so good!!
Oh wow had a great time at the Thunder game against the Warriors woohoo and it was my birthday it was loud, I will be back again great customer service
Always enjoyable no matter who's playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The process to buy them are pretty easy. Wish there was an option to share but not make it a hassle. Had some difficulties trying to share ticket. Overall great experience at the game. Scanned quick and easy.
Really enjoyed the game. It was my daughter’s first NBA game for the price we played. We definitely had a great deal.
We got a squad in OKC again. The atmosphere is back, the team is fun and getting better every day, couldn’t have a better group of guys repping our state…..Thunder UP
Awesome game experience with my son. Will definitely come back.
Being my first professional basketball game I was completely overwhelmed by this venue and my seats! I could not ask for a better experience- asides from the kiss cam not including me in the events. Seriously I could not have asked for a better experience than what I received!
Thunder was great! Arena was nice, clean and easy (close) parking. No problems with tickets! Good seats! It was great! I am ready to go again!
Great game thanks for coming to tulsa everyone had a blast and ate well
First time watching the Thunder at the BOK, and the family and I Loved it!!! Thank You BoK for the memories and hospitality…
It was super fun seen play our team ... my kiddos had an amazing time we had amazing sits
Amazing experience in our city. Wish we had a team in our city! Only reason I didnt give it 5* was the consession was a rip off. 4 bottles of water 22$! GOUGING TO ANOTHER LEVEL!
As usual I will find a way to go to the game. However the prices of the tickets sky rocket it makes it insane for families to get tickets if you don’t get them on pré-salé which is where I try to get them. I think next year they’re should be 2 nights of NBA. We have the crowds to watch so why not. The prices of beer and drink even kids juices are absolutely insane and not even almost fair. Next year I will stuff my children before I go to avoid buying anything while I’m there if that is the price to pay especially in this economy. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I will continue to come to the games as long as I can afford too however each year I will plan better to spend less. Concert and shows I say continue to charge your prices but on family events try to come up with family prices please. And maybe more sellers in the higher rows with other snacks other than popcorn. Thanks for bringing the NBA to MTL but please try to make it more affordable for the families out there. We pay so much in sports lessons for our kids we don’t want to deny them the chance to see their idols in person play ball!
The NBA Canada Series game between OKC and Detroit was fantastic, and I look forward to upcoming games in the future! Come back to Montreal!
Well organized event! Good security, people positioned in strategic spots to direct you
