About

OK GO IN CONCERT:

Not many indie rock bands are as irresistibly charming as OK Go. They create truly infectious, sunny alt pop songs and perform them with loads of charisma and quirky playfulness in concert. With confetti cannons exploding at any given time and Andy Warhol-inspired visuals surrounding the stage, this is a band that relishes the art of performance and transforms shows into interactive experiences. One impressive trick they're known for is prompting the crowd to make certain noises, recording the audio, and then playing it back in a song. Masterminding the spectacle is frontman Damian Kulash, who exudes magnetic personality and gives every performance a casual, friendly atmosphere. For a band that's famous for imaginative, eye-grabbing videos, OK Go's live shows prove they're even more captivating in person.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

OK Go formed in Chicago in 1998 and relocated to Los Angeles three years later. After their first pair of EPs captured booking agent Frank Riley's attention, they scored a touring gig alongside fellow indie rockers They Might Be Giants. In 2001 they inked a deal with Capitol Records and released their self-titled debut album, which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Following the release of their sophomore album, 2005's Oh No, the band established a reputation for high-concept, low-budget, one-take music videos. The video for their hit single "Here It Goes Again" -- which features the quartet performing an elaborate treadmill dance routine -- became a viral hit and earned them a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video in 2007. After successful tours opening and co-headlining with indie acts including Snow Patrol, Death Cab for Cutie, Kaiser Chiefs, and Silversun Pickups, they released their third album, 2010's Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky. In 2011 the band cut ties with Capitol and formed the independent imprint Paracadute, making their debut on the new label with the live album 180/365. The band’s fourth studio album, Hungry Ghosts, was released in 2014 and featured a more synth-heavy, electronic-influenced sound.

    Amazing Ok Go

by BlackMagilla on 5/8/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

This is the first time I have ever seen Ok Go live & I was quite impressed. It was highly entertaining & probably the most fun show I've ever been to. They sounded great. They played all of the old favorites, plus numerous songs from their new album. Several of the new songs sounded better live than they did on the album, they just packed more punch live for some reason. Damian Kulash was in fine form, joking around with the audience & even wading into the middle of the crowd to serenade us with a song. A confetti-machine, furry neon-rimmed guitars, & light-up coats were just some of the surprises. They also did the handbell version of "What To Do", which is very cool. The band was having a great time & so was the audience. I really like the way they appreciate & have a great relationship with their fans. Can't say enough good things about this show, it was excellent.

From the first blast of the confetti gun, I knew this would be a blast. Ok Go never fails to surprise the audience with fun and innovation.

OK GO was awesome but 2nd opening bad= terrible

by SarahCl on 5/8/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

OK go was great, i love their music and their energy. HOWEVER, 2ND opening band was the worst band I've ever heard. I got a headache from listening to them. They were WAY too loud and their music was a mess. WORST SONGS EVER. Sorry they were not good at all and changed my mood and gave me a head ache. very bad band.

    OK Go was A OK!

by rockinvern on 5/8/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Great energy from the band - tight playing, variety of numbers from each of their 3 CDs. Even did the Pixies: Debaser as a homage to playing in Boston which was a great treat. Highlights include a song done with handbells along with lots of confetti. I didn't know the group that well - my son wanted to go after watching their videos on Youtube. Only complaint would be that the lead singer kept commenting on how they were recording the show tonight for purchase with a USB stick and he kept swearing throughout the show! Otherwise, fun show and the 2 lead offs were decent (especially liked a band called Greyhound from Brooklyn NY who were a power trio that was a throwback to early 70's rock

    A lot of goofy fun

by a2n2 on 5/8/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

As to be expected, OKGO take themselves no more seriously live than they do in their videos. A charismatic dynamic show that made one feel like you were at a private party with the band. The two opening acts left MUCH to be desired but OKGO more than made up for it. Will definitely be seeing them again.

Ok go was absolutely incredibly fantastic

by Lizka on 5/8/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Ok go is the best band I have ever seen in concert. They were constantly entertaining, pleasing the crowd with every song and engaging them in every way. The performance was captivating and damien kulash (the lead singer) is a talented musician whose stage presence kept the crowd on it's toes. The only setback was the length and mediocrity of the opening bands. Especially Earl greyhound. Their musical pieces were extremely lengthy and tiring. I was upset before ok go came on stage and changed my mind. Also, the length of time taken between sets was unbelievably long. The audience was forced to stand and wait 30 minutes each time between bands. I was very disappointed. The second two hours made up for the first two though because of ok gos amazing performance

    Too loud but otherwise fantastic!

by tarzaparzagagapan on 5/8/10Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Music was too loud - I was honestly pretty concerned for the safety of my eardrums. However, OK Go is an awesome band to see live. They're great and interactive, really work with the audience members, and are overall really fun to see perform!

    Ok Go is incredible!

by RachelleLindsay on 5/4/10Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

The show started with two opening acts (The Booze, who were very very good, and the other I can't remember the name of). Then Ok Go came on. It was high energy right off the bat with them blasting the audience with confetti. The show was very interactive (including handing out plastic tambourines, Damian jumping off the stage to sing among the crowd, the band members playing of their songs with hand bells, and so much more). All in all, I'd DEFINITELY pay to see them again. Even got a copy of the live concert I just listened to immediately after the show!

Why were they so amazing?!! I can't get over how amazing they were. The openers The Booze and Earl Greyhound were also good, perfect for getting me pumped for the GLORY that was OK Go. Def wanna try to see them again in August.

    Never a disappointment

by DJRose on 5/4/10Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

I have seen OK Go many many times, and have never left unhappy. Last night was no exception. I defy you to go to a concert that includes handbells, guitars that shoot lasers out of the headstocks, and a confetti cannon, and NOT have a good time. It's just impossible. These boys are genuine Rock Stars.

    OK...that was awesome

by TheHartness on 5/4/10Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

My first time at TLA and seeing OK Go. I must say, it was excellent both ways! I don't love TLA's no re-entry policy nor do I totally get why they won't accept credit card in this day and age, especially since it is $10.25 for a large beer. All that said, the acoustics were great in TLA and the staff was friendly. Ok Go is a must-see in my book. They are simultaneously futuristic (fun electronice toys and lasers on guitars, what?!) and progressive (if you can call hand bells progressive), while at the same time raw (coming out into the audience for an acoustic song and otherwise belting notes at the top of your lungs without pitch correction). These guys leave it all on the stage.

Even though the show was ridiculously late and the venue is in the middle of nowhere, OK Go put on a great show and I can't wait to see them again!!

by katlaz on 4/30/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

No one puts on a more fun show than ok go, and this was no exception! The band was having a great time, the crowd was having a great time... and Damien was, as always, adorable! Just an awesome show. Opening acts were really great as well - you could tell they were hand-picked to suit the taste of OK Go fans

    OK Go rocked Brooklyn

by JessB213 on 4/30/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

AMAZING show, absolutely love these guys! The opener bands were really good as well (loved the Weezer cover of Buddy Holly by the second group). Only thing I would have changed was that the opening bands didn't start until 9, which put OK Go going on at around 11. This was a thrusday and as old as it makes me sound, it was a "school night" and I wound up missng my train home due to how awesome the guys rocked. Great show over all, just start a little earlier!!!

OK GO knows how to do a performance. That was one of the best shows I've been to. Completely mind-blowing and unforgettable.
