It’s a high school event with HOURS in between matches and you cannot re-enter the arena. This is the biggest disappointment at any sporting event I have ever experienced. It would be very simple to stamp someone for re-entry but instead you are forced to sit there for hours on end waiting for all the division matches to circle back around.
feel like with the new sponsor and the girls the first time in action it could of been better experience. i feel like the parade of champions could of been better. the mats made the officiating an issues as well.also you need to move away from Sunday night. its way to late for parents and kids to get back for Monday work or school. the finals should be over and awards done by 5 at the latest. move some stuff around and start early Friday or even opening rounds Thursday nights also.
I think (in my opinion) that it should be posted that you can buy tickets at the door as well as on line. Don’t understand why we couldn’t get tickets in level 1 or 2 when there were plenty of seats available. Also, why you don’t take cash verses debit/credit cards for everything. Why aren’t the vendors telling us about all event drinks and parking pass at counter at ticket booth. I may have missed it so sorry if I did.
Enjoy the wrestling, well run as usual, but the finals on Sunday is not as enjoyable. I would rather see a 2 day tournament on Friday and Saturday if the finals have to stay on Sunday. If it's about money, you can raise prices to the same cost or clear the arena for each session. Once again, hate the Sunday event.
Ticketmaster works and is (can be) very convenient. I left 4 stars because i am not sure where confusion was OSHAA wrestling or ticket master but the way they sold tickets and for what areas was horrible. I heard many others had the same experience as i did. But overall buying and transfering tickets is easy.
We had no choice but to sit in upper section when there were seats in lower section. Plus what’s up with no cash sales for seating and food court??
The venue is priced high on all it's concessions but I am sure that won't change. I like all the options for vending on the first floor and the visibility in the arena is always pretty good.
Parking is adequate but is far from the arena. OSU basketball offers bus transport from Buckeye lots. Why not charge a few dollars and keep people from freezing or from not being able to walk that far, especially since you cannot bring any extras into the arena. Also, allow people to re enter since the events last so long.
They Had the wrestling mats in good view of no Matter where you set at
Have always enjoyed the state tournament but would recommend a few things to consider. 1- Either consider switching back to the Thursday, Friday and Saturday event so the kids and family can have Sunday to decompress and rest. 2 - if Thursday is not an option then compress the tournament into 2 days. There is a lot of downtime that really isn’t necessary.
Everything was great except for the parking on Thursday and Friday morning. Need to have signs and info of where to go park prior to trying to park in the Buckeye lot. Very frustrating when you don't know where you can park.
This is a great tournament to attend if you like high school wrestling
The greatest event in the State of Ohio. Hands down.
These kids have to eat really light and healthy to make weight. It would have been nice if some healthy food or snacks would have been available for sale, since we could not bring anything in.
My seat was ok but basicslly it was a blocked view . Hand rails and glass blocking view of 5 of 10 mats
I really enjoyed this event. I stayed for the whole thing. All three days. The only glitch was on saturday evening when they lost the sound system. Even with that the crowd interacted with doing "the wave" which was pretty cool! My seats were great, I could see all the action! My overall experience was wondrrful!
Not happy with the refs inconsistent calls. Choose more wisely and follow the same rules
The wrestling state championship is something that you will never forget and I would recommend it to anyone!!
The staff were amazing! Very helpful. Arena was clean and easy to find seats.
The pageantry of the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships is like no other and should be experienced by every young athlete. 10 mats of amazing wrestling action is hard to describe and is something that every wrestler, parent and even the casual fan should experience at least once in their lifetime (it will probably become an annual pilgrimage).
