Must see, it’s odd but in a unique way, it’s a must see.
Although this show has some crude moments and centers around very serious topics, it is done with taste and a great dose of humor. OSU always puts on a very professional production with great direction. The cast works extremely hard to make this show entertaining and the audience is responding with equally high energy.
We have never been there before. We were not expecting much thinking it's a college production.... blown away by the acting and performances. We will definitely come to future performances.
These young performers took this classic play and had fun with it. Their excitement on stage was contagious and made it a real pleasure to watch.
The play was so well done. We thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to attending another performance.
Creatively conceived and directed. OSU student actors were superb.
Scenic design was amazing. Sound design was strident and at times led to unintelligible dialogue and lyrics Vocals ranged from spot on to embarrassing. Characterizations, especially from those doubling, were very strong. Fix the conductors stand light. Produces distracting shadows on house left walls. Act II pace seemed rushed in comparison. A tough assignment handled with panache.
When the Royal Shakespeare Company plays in your town, you've got to go. This is the second youth-centered production of theirs we got to see, and it was even better than Hamlet. The actors were great, the staging intriguing, and the story deeper and more captivating that you would have thought possible in a one-hour condensed version. Can't wait for more!
I had never seen The Arabian NIghts before and and had never seen an OSU production either. I was nervous about what to expect but was delighted to find my fears thwarted. The play itself is a great one. Mary Zimmerman is a wonderful story teller and writer. I was intrigued the entire length of the show, which is a compliment in itself! Plays are sometimes dull at points but that was never the case for this show. The OSU production was better than some other university productions I had seen. The actors were compelling, engaging, and on the mark. There were a few line blunders, which I wish had not occurred. These small missteps had no overall affect of my opinion of the production. The professionalism and energy of the cast was outstanding and I felt transported to a different time and era. Along with their professionalism, the cast was also funny, performing antics (either taken directly from the script or adapted themselves, I do not know). I would highly recommend this performance, for the show by Mary Zimmerman is smart and engaging, and the OSU cast is on-point and fun.
