    Extraordinary Life-changing Performance

by Mombie on 3/1/24North Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - Skokie

I have been a Northlight subscriber for many years. When I entered the theatre to view “Selling Kabul” for the first time, I had little background information about the play. However, from the moment the curtains opened, I was absolutely mesmerized by the raw intensity of this drama. The acting was fabulous, and the fear and anxiety on stage were so palpable that they were projected directly into the audience. At some points, I found it difficult to breathe…. It is one thing to hear about the US pulling out of Afghanistan in the news, but to witness a true account of how profoundly the withdrawal affected this particular family personally is something else entirely. …A few days later, I purchased two more theatre tickets and treated another friend to this amazing theatrical experience. As an older adult, I have attended many plays over the years in a variety of venues. Some were excellent, some were good and a few were disappointing. I have always had very high standards, but, even still, “Selling Kabul” was one of the top five plays I have ever seen. Bravo! Well Done! What a life-changing gift this marvelous play has been to our community!

    Overly simplistic story line

by Sean on 2/28/24North Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - Skokie

Disappointing stereotypes which avoid addressing the real issues people face in Afghanistan. Was hoping for something more relevant to current affairs. Had potential but fell short.

    Wonderful play

by Marc on 2/26/24North Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - Skokie

The acting made the conflicts come alive. Staging focused on the people and their issues. All in all a great experience.

    Outstanding

by Gail on 2/19/24North Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - Skokie

Intimate portrayal of those we left behind in Afghanistan. Four outstanding actors bring the story to life. Breathtaking.
