  • Great Concert that also includes Great disappointment.

by PurpleRaye on 6/21/25The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Norman Brown Concert Review My husband and I always look forward to the summer concerts at Aretha, also known as Chene Park. However, our experience has become increasingly disappointing due to excessively long waits for food, causing us to miss parts of the opening act. We've also faced continuous sound issues during performances that should have been resolved beforehand. The latest letdown was the new DJ, who lacks audience engagement and performs as if she’s at home alone. We sincerely hope the venue recognizes this and brings back DJ Steady Rock or someone of similar caliber. On a positive note, Norman Brown's performance was outstanding, and the catfish was well worth the 45-minute wait. Plus, the bathroom concierge adds an excellent touch to the outdoor venue. Here’s hoping for improvements next year! #NormanBrown #TheArerha #MusicReview #ConcertExperience

  • Needed more Norman time

by Schoolio on 6/14/25The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

Avery Sunshine was the opening act and played longer than Norman, who we really wanted more time with. Plus there was a lot of down time where a DJ played music. The sound from Norman's guitar wasn't good, either. I love Norman Brown and have been an avid fan since he started. It was a beautiful night for a concert, too. We just wish it would've been better.

This was my first time seeing Norman Brown and he did not disappoint. I felt like his was playing for me only. I loved his medley’s session. The venue was good and not a bad seating the house. I will be seeing him again.

  • The Best Show Ever!!

by Lisa from Warrenton VA on 5/21/25Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

The Birchmere staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Norman Brown is an exceptional, amazing, and engaging entertainer!!! I loved his storytelling about his career that began with his brother playing the guitar to his father sharing his love for music which enhanced his musicianship. Mr Brown and his band members played like songbirds on a sunny Spring day!! Must see, must hear!!!

  • Norman Brown

I somewhat enjoyed the show and I appreciated him apologizing for the concert that he canceled on us back in November of 2024. I heard that he puts on a great show but he talked too much for me, and he was struggling and using an inhaler. But I know that unforeseen circumstances come up but I had driven from Indianapolis to see him, so I had extra expenses that I paid for to be notified about an hour and a half before the show that it was canceled. Then on top of that he started playing Christmas songs, he was explaining the lineup that he had for us in November. Well this is January and nobody wants to hear Christmas songs at this point, play the music that we want to hear, some of his greatest hits.

  • Five-Star Show: Norman Brown Live in Cincinnati

by Cincinnati Music Lover on 3/25/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Norman Brown’s concert at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati was nothing short of spectacular. While the show did experience a few minor hiccups, including a late start, some technical difficulties, and Norman himself battling health issues, none of that diminished the magic of the evening. The moment Norman stepped onto the stage, he proved once again why he is an absolute phenomenon on the guitar. His performance was breathtaking, filled with a selection of fantastic songs that captivated the audience. A true highlight of the night was his heartfelt tribute to guitar legends Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, and George Benson. In addition, his tribute to his father and brother—who inspired him to play—added a deeply personal and touching element to the show. Adding to the excitement, some of Cincinnati’s finest musicians, Roman Johnson and Reginald Johnson, joined Norman on stage. Their presence was an unexpected but delightful surprise. Given their extensive work with legendary artists like Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers, Patti LaBelle, The Gap Band, and En Vogue, their participation only elevated the show’s excellence. The drummer, Kyle, was another standout performer. Though I wasn’t familiar with him, his talent was undeniable. Norman Brown even mentioned that it was their first time playing together, having only just met before the show, yet their chemistry was seamless and electrifying. Despite not feeling his best, Norman Brown gave his all, delivering a mesmerizing performance that left the audience in awe. Every minute of the show was thoroughly enjoyable, and I sincerely hope he returns to Cincinnati soon. If you ever have the chance to see Norman Brown live, don’t miss it—you’re in for an unforgettable experience!

While I understand the situation Mr. Brown encountered with his health, I would’ve been happier him playing instead of talking seeing that it was kind of hard for him. I appreciated the background information he gave but just would’ve happier with him playing!

  • Technically the best, yet….

by Kels on 1/21/25Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Norman Brown is technically unparalleled! Incredibly talented in writing music as well as executing amazing music! The local drummer, keyboard artist and bass player sounded great with him. Unfortunately he didn’t play that many songs. His stories were ok but too many. Also, a bit self indulgent playing so many solos versus the full sound of all the instruments. Technical issues were not worked out so the show started a half hour late. I’m not sure who owns that but worth a mention.

  • Outstanding.

by Cliffie on 1/21/25Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Norman Brown is my favorite guitarist performer. He did not disappoint. His dedication to his craft is appreciated. Loved his story of how he came to playing the guitar. Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind, & Fire playing andlearned from them was like a musical history lesson. May the Lord continue to bless him and help him start on time.

  • History yes, music so so

by Big Webb on 1/21/25Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

IT was a great bit of information to hear from Norman about his vast history of how he got in the business and his journeys. I wished I could have seen more of his magnificent guitar playing and less talking. Technical issues with his floor pedals might have been the reason, however that is not what I feel I paid for.
