A fantastic post-pandemic first concert!
by Tanner on 10/19/23Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5I saw Noah on the first stop of his First Time Out tour in 2020, which was my last concert before COVID set in, and if I were to pick one, it was a hell of a one to go out on. I was thrilled by his return and even more-so about the choice of venue at the Commodore: highly appropriate and one of my favourites in the city. His opener was great- always nice to hear new Canadian talent, there were no gaps in the show and Noah Reid was a delight as always. He’s spectacular in front of an audience, sounds great and mixes up some of his songs a bit from simply playing the album, which is what makes a concert worth going to, to me. LOVED hearing some of the back story behind a few pieces too. I’d have loved if he played “Guess I’ll just Lie Here” which is, by far best heard live, however he did a lovely encore that included the Joni Mitchell cover he did for Catherine O’Hara, and a tribute to the late Tina Turner. Perhaps it was because my feet weren’t in pain from standing all night this time, but the set almost felt short- but I was smiling ear to ear the whole time, so it might have just been me having fun. This is what a concert should be. I’ll always go back and see him.
