A Revue that Could Be So Much More

by Nolahome on 5/2/24Civic Theatre - New Orleans

I loved the book and I loved the show. It's New Orleans through and through. It's a revue with great music, but it could be so much more. Someone needs to sit down and write a script that turns it into a real musical. There's so much character development left out that could make the show so much richer. It's a fun show don't get me wrong. It's more or less fine for what it is. With the right writers and performers it could easily be the next One Mo' Time that transcends New Orleans and winds up on Broadway.

This is a very interesting and moving presentation. It is a musical adaptation of a book about nine lives from New Orleans, LA. There was "the story teller", a guitar-singer, and two other vocalists. The lyrics were meaningful and the stories compelling. It did lack some "luster" though. I believe they are trying to get it NYC in some capacity and don't know if it's "big enough" for there.
