  • Night Ranger Concert

    by RushFan2RockU on 9/8/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 3 out of 5

The venue at Moody Gardens is good, but not optimal for acoustics. Our reserved seats were very good, but other fans kept moving into the reserved seating area. Great White sounded terrible, but that is about normal for the opening act these days (I guess the headline band does not want to be upstaged by the opening act). Night Ranger sounded great, but did not play for very long (probably due to running about an hour late getting started). Overall, the show was about an average experience for a rock concert. Definitely worth the price of the tickets, but not overly special.

  • Labor Day Weekend

by DJTommyJ on 9/7/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was good! My daughter & I were on the 4th row center, great premium seats that weren't cheap. Unfortunately the event staff let everyone, even general admission, rush to the pit & block those of us that paid extra. That nonsense doesn't happen at Cynthia Woods... Maybe we should all get a $60 refund? Also, the Moody staff sat all the premium ticket holders on the WRONG SIDE causing a lot of confusion and some angry VIP's. The surprise of the show was Great White, with Jani Lane (formerly of Warrant) doing vocals. He did a brief solo acoustic set including Cherry Pie & Uncle Toms Cabin. Good stuff! Night Ranger cranked out Ozzy's Crazy Train (Gillis played with Ozzy years ago), and they rocked! All in all, an excellent show by both bands, but Moody Gardens incompetence, & some sound engineer screw-ups tainted the experience. During "Save All Your Love", which is nearly acapella, Jani's mic caused horrendous feedback that nearly brought me to tears. Even when Night Ranger took the stage, sound guy forgot to turn on Brad's mic until they were halfway through the first song. Same thing with the harmonica lead, board op was asleep I guess... Despite the board ops brain farts, both bands kept going (a tribute to their professionalism & experience) & rocked the house!! Night Ranger sounded as good as they did in '83 at Astroworld, yet only 2000+ people were at this show. Why? A slow promoter?? I have been in the radio & music biz for many years, and if any of the bands happen to read this, when you get a new board op, the show will get 5 stars. Peace, see you next time.

  • NIGHT RANGER ROCKED!

by twistoffate on 9/7/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 3 out of 5

Really went to see Great White and was a little let down by their sound equipment. Night Ranger jammed hard, doing a bunch of other bands music that got the crowd going.

  • Night Ranger Still Rockin in America!!!

by LoriTX on 9/7/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

I had forgotten what a fantastic stage presence Night Ranger has. The energy of these guys after all these years. Whatever gives Jack Blades all his energy, I want some. They played for an Hour and 20 minutes definitely got my moneys worth. Last time I saw them I was in the Front Row as I was this time. Hope they come back soon!!

  • Fun but needed earplugs

by SRowe on 9/7/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was fun but I would strongly recommend earplugs. I thought the music was too loud and the vocals were barely heard at several times during the concert The problem seemed to be fixed toward the end of the night. Moody Garden's wasn't the best location for the event but parking was free and easy to access before and after the event. For a night out in Galveston without the kids, it was worth it.

  • Night Ranger still has it.

by sticker35 on 9/7/10Moody Gardebs Expo Center - GalvestonRating: 4 out of 5

Saw Night Ranger with opening act Great White at the Expo Center of the Moody Gardens in Galveston. They played great and were obviously having a good time together. Jack Blades did a couple of Damn Yankees songs and they did almost all the hits of NR that I can remember except for maybe a couple of songs off of Seven Wishes. I had seen them in 86 in Nacogdoches when they were maybe at their height. This show brought back a lot of memories and my wife and I enjoyed our trip back to the 80s. Ive always thought Brad Gillis was underrated as a guitarist and the new kid( who is a dead ringer for a circa 1989 Sebastian Bach) works well together as a duel guitar attack.

  • Great White/Night Ranger Well Worth It!!!!!!!!!

    by PistolPete1 on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

I took a day of vacation just to go see Great White. I was all pumped up and when the band came out, I didn't recognize the singer. Jack Russell was not there!!!!!!! What is a band without the singer??? How come it wasn't annouced that Jack Russell would not be there? The singer did look familiar and after asking someone next to me, I found out he was J.D. Lang from Warrant. He did the best he could standing in for Jack Russell and really wasn't that bad. The mixer on the sound board was terrrible though. The back up vocals were non existent. The lead guitar was screechy. The drums and bass guitar were over bearing. The whole thing about Great White is how all the instuments and vocals blend together and sound so good! Very disappointed with the sound but I still am Great Whites biggest fan. They are so underrated. I expected the same thing from Night Ranger and wasn't too excited about them coming on. But let me tell you! They blew me away!!!!!!! They sounded just like they did in the eighties. I never was a Night Ranger Fan, but they made me one Saturday Night!!!! I like the way they got in with the crowd by talking about their first concert they saw and how Brad Gillis played for Ozzy Osbourne. I really enjoyed them and thought they made the whole night worth it!!

  • Great show

    by 1crzybrd6 on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

After 25 years since the last time I saw Night Ranger, I think they were even better this time. Great show. You need to make a plan to go.

  • An ok show

by memoroney on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 3 out of 5

I've always liked Night Ranger and I have seen them before, but just not sure that they are headliner material for me. yes, they had a monster hit with Sister Christian and had several other hits, but there seemed to be an awful lot of filler in this show. The drummer is fantastic without a doubt.

  • Two great 80's bands!

    by Pingeye45 on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 4 out of 5

Great White and Night Ranger really rocked it up in Galveston. I have seen newer bands that don't have any where near as much energy as Night Ranger and they played all of their hits from the 80's. There were a few I wanted to hear but maybe they can play them next time. I would not ever go back to this venue though as they not only ran out of beer but the seating was mixed up. There were people to help but they were very young and again the seating was terrbile, I mean it was chairs and when the band started playing, everyone ran up to the stage so we had to stand to see it all. A very poor venue. At least the bands rocked though!

  • Awesome show!

by jrphotoreview on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

Although this show was supposed to have been an outdoor event, the fact that two awesome bands were performing made up for it. I really enjoyed the small venue size. It made for a much more exciting experience. Being in the front row, center stage throughout the concert made it especially fun! Easy parking (free), and it is much closer to my home in Galveston County. I despise having to drive all the way up north to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (and the parking there is absolutely terrible!). Jani Lane (formerly with Warrant) took over the singing duties for a surgery-recovering Jack Russell of Great White. I thought that was pretty cool! It was like two bands in one from the 80s! He did a great job. Night Ranger came on strong and Brad Gillis just smoked on the guitar. The band had a lot of fun playing various songs from other artists, not just their own. They kept the audience involved the entire time.

  • Great Show

by OMGwhatAShow on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 4 out of 5

I went just to see Great White and was hoping for a stellar show. Unfortunately Jack Russel wasn't singing that night and they had Jani Lane(Warrant Singer) on Leads. Though Jani did a superb job it still did'nt have that Great White feel without Jack. They still rocked the show! I was never a big fan of Night Ranger and could only recall 2 of there hit songs. These guys came out with a bang. What a great performance by all. There guitar work was amazing. Was difinetly surprised and instantly became a fan! Too bad it took 20 plus years. Awsome show!

  • Night Ranger was Awesome

by Mikant on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! What an awesome concert! They rocked the expo center in Galveston. They know how to put on a concert.

  • Awesome Nostalgia

by Rickieee on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

Great White's singer is the ex-Warrant singer and he is awesome. Night Ranger played all of their hits and also some Damn Yankees songs. I highly recommend this concert for anyone that grew up in the 80's or for any rock fan.

  • Night Ranger & Great White: Amazing!

    by RAS7815 on 9/6/10Moody Gardens Expo - GalvestonRating: 5 out of 5

I went primarily to see Night Ranger but was quite impressed with Great White also. Night Ranger rocks VERY hard! From their Greatest Hits, they seem almost like soft rock. In person, however, their guitars scream with the best! Would definitely go see them again!

  • A Great Night with the Ranger

by RWINGER on 8/29/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

How does one review a great band such as Night Ranger? The show was amazing, beyond amazing. This is the 1st time seeing Night Ranger and they did not disappoint. The only regret I have, wish I caught a show in the 80's with the orginal band. I like the new members of the band, they bring a nice youthfulness to the band. I was pleasantly surprised when we had songs from other bands played, especially the Dam Yankees.

  • Night Ranger Rocks!

  • Nightranger still rocks!

by dizzybat on 8/23/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Have always liked nightranger songs but never had the opportunity to see them live! They were awesome! Most of the band members are my age and it just goes to show you that rock and roll is not only for the young! Loved the show!

  • by ecklcat on 8/23/10Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack - ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Night ranger was awesome! sounded just like they did back in the day.. it was in a big ballroom..which was fine.. just wasnt expecting it.. i dont think there was a bad seat in the house.. could see the band easily. great drink specials..

  • Night Ranger still has it!

by KendraA on 8/22/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

For a band that has been playing for 28 years, time stood still! They had my attention from beginning to end, and were energetic and entertaining for the entire show. For a long time fan, it was a show I will always remember!
