NICKEL CREEK IN CONCERT:

Seven years after their 2007 Farewell (For Now) Tour, contemporary bluegrass trio Nickel Creek are making good on their promise of a reunion, hitting the road in support of 2014's A Dotted Line —their first new album since 2005. Featuring innovative fiddle, mandolin, and guitar work, the group's acoustic performances are an impressive display of coordination, highlighted by tight instrumental interplay and intricate vocal harmonies. Celebrating 25 years since their formation, Nickel Creek's 2014 tour will treat fans to their biggest hits alongside material from the new album, with select appearances by country sweethearts the Secret Sisters.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by Chris Thile and siblings Sara and Sean Watkins in 1989, Nickel Creek began performing as pre-teens, playing bluegrass festivals in the '90s while receiving home-schooling between tour dates. Following two early albums, the trio teamed up with country-folk legend Alison Krauss for their self-titled third album, a critical and commercial success that received several Grammy nominations. 2002's This Side proved an even more momentous success, earning the group a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album with its creative blend of indie rock and traditional bluegrass elements. Following the 2005 release of their Grammy-winning fifth album Why Should the Fire Die?, the band went on a seven-year hiatus before making a triumphant return to both studio and stage with 2014's A Dotted Line.

I'M GLAD NICKEL CREEK GOT BACK TOGETHER!!

by ddtc14 on 5/2/14Beacon Theatre - New York

I am not crazy about the Beacon Theatre only because people are more interested in drinking than watching the show but Nickel Creek was amazing. I had taken my kids years ago to a college in Pennsylvania to see them and it was GREAT to see them after all this time. My kids absolutely loved it.

Loved it! My husband and I have seen Nickel Creek at the Tabernacle before and we have always been pleased. They are fantastic and the acoustics in the Tabernacle are great! Awesome concert!!

Nickel Creek is still tight musically. There were a few issues with sound, but these guys sure can play. I could have done without the backup band, as the crowd pretty much talked over them anyway.

by RealDawgPound on 4/28/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

I'm on the north side of 55 years old and have been to many great concerts in my years. This was the best overall experience, by far. Such great talent in Nickel Creek and the cozy setting at The Tabernacle just made it incredible!

    Nickel Creek is BACK!

by IheartNickelCreek on 4/28/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

I'm so glad Nickel Creek is back at it! Sara, Sean, and Chris were absolutely amazing. This concert was amazing and I would pay to hear them live everyday if I could. The venue was also very comfortable and I don't think there was a bad seat in the house. The encore was great too. The last song, "Where is love gone?" was a great way to end the night. THANK YOU!!

    UNBELIEVABLE SHOW!!!!!

    by hobbit57 on 4/28/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

I start this off with the caveat that I do and always have gone to a totally absurd number of concerts each year. This was easily one of the top five concerts I've ever been to. When the Gods of music tune a concert to perfection there is kind of feedback loop. The crowd and the band start picking up this vibe from one another, and each starts to feed upon it, and the intensity grows and grows and grows. This was the case at the Tabernacle on Friday night. I hope they continue to tour as it is truly a remarkable experience to see them live.

See Nickel Creek While You Have the Chance!

by Aufgehts on 4/27/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

What an amazing show! After a 7 year hiatus Nickel Creek is back but just for the summer, according to them. Their vocals and blend of harmonies bring goosebumps and their talent is beyond impressive. They played a great mix from their new album along with some old favorites including The Lighthouse's Tale. Four instrumentals were included and we got a treat of the bass player clogging- and he was amazing! If you get a chance to see this gifted trio do it before they disappear again!!

    Nickel Creek worth the wait

by karmagal on 4/27/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

Wow, what an amazing concert. This is the first time I have seen them in concert. Their voices are incredible. The way they harmonize is beautiful. The crowd was a bit dull for me. No singing along, standing up. It was like we were watching them on a movie screen! I would go see them again in a heartbeat! Welcome back guys, we missed you!

    Nickel Creek does not disappoint!

by Tenglishman on 4/25/14Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This is the fourth time I've seen Nickel Creek, and this was by far the strongest concert I've seen. This was the opening night of the tour, and yet it seemed like they had been doing this show for months. The crowd at the Alabama Theater was very responsive with an unbelievable response to each and every song -- new and old. Sean, Sara and Chris acted like they never spent any time away as a group.

Nickel Creek at The Ryman was Perfect!

by Gdubious on 4/23/14Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

From the moment you walk into the Ryman Auditorium you know that it is going to be a special night. The band was incredible. We saw them the night before in Asheville NC and it was a remarkable experience, but the Ryman adds a whole new level of greatness.

    Completely Satisfying

by Doozr on 4/23/14Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

NC was incredible! They sang their hearts out to a packed house and had a standing ovation before they played a single note. I took my three kids who were raised on NC's music--ages 17, 19, 21--and we sang along to every tune. We each hoped to hear our favorite melody and were thrilled to have our wish granted! We were over-the-top!!! I would go hear NC at every performance on the tour if I could! Please, please, please let there be more tours and music for many years to come! This will forever be one of my best life memories!

Great evening of down home, laid back, sultry songs and music. So comfortable it felt like they were old friends hanging out in your own living room pickin' and grinnin'. Welcome back Nickel Creek, anytime!!!

    Another tremendous Nickel Creek show!

by Tappy4 on 4/23/14U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - Asheville

I saw Nickel Creek almost 20 years ago on campus at Wake Forest. They played for two hours then turned up the lights and took requests for almost another hour. It was a fantastic and memorable event. Fast forward to last Thursday night in Asheville, NC. Nickel Creek are better than ever! The virtuosity and musicianship of their playing is incredible. It's obvious they've continued to work on their vocals as well because they sound better than their earlier recordings. I know their lives are full and they have multiple ongoing musical projects. I fervently hope they continue to play and record together as Nickel Creek because they are truly unique, gifted, and a joy to listen to.
