Nick Offerman on Tour
As fans of his Parks and Recreation role as plaid-shirted public servant Ron Swanson are aware, Nick Offerman is easily America's most entertaining woodworker. Even more of this comedic carpenter's skills, which include storytelling and songwriting, will be on display when Offerman hits the road for 2019's All Rise – American Humorist tour.
The trip follows his saucy 2017 Full Bush tour and sex-centric two-person 2016 traveling show, Summer of 69: No Apostrophe, with wife Megan Mullally. Offerman describes All Rise as "an evening of deliberative talking and light dance that will compel you to chuckle whilst enjoining you to brandish a better side of humanity than the one to which we have grown accustomed. Come on down and hear the good news that will make you go jingle-jangle in your juice box."
Nick Offerman Background
Nick Offerman's professional acting career began around 1991 in his home state of Illinois. Following film appearances in Sin City, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous, and The Men Who Stare at Goats, Offerman's career took off when he joined the cast of Amy Poehler's NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation in 2009.
Before the show concluded in 2015, his portrayal of a straight-faced, meme-generating libertarian carpenter had earned Offerman the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy. Subsequent roles have included his portrayal of McDonald's co-developer Dick McDonald in The Founder and the rocking dad in feel-good father-daughter drama Hearts Beat Loud.
On the printed page, Offerman has mixed wit and wisdom in The Greatest Love Story Ever Told (with Megan Mullally), Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living, Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom With America's Gutsiest Troublemakers, and Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Workshop.
But that's not all. The persuasive polymath sings songs devoted to online entities Facebook and Siri on a homemade ukulele, while the instructional DVD Fine Woodstrip Canoe Building with Nick Offerman attests to his boat-making expertise.
Intelligent, very raunchy humor. If you are offended by cuss words or scatological references stay home.
My son (12) LOVES Nick Offerman. However, we've only seen him on TV (Parks & Rec and Making it). I booked us tickets to see him live and then started googling around trying to find out if the show would be age appropriate. I could find zero information about his act, so I rolled the dice hoping for PG-13. So, I'm hoping this will help someone else. HE IS NOT KID APPROPRIATE. Very raunchy in many parts of the show. I still think he's hilarious and WOULD HAVE loved the show if I didn't have my 12 year old sitting next to me. So, instead I was horrified and probably more traumatized than he was.
He was witty, and had some musical high points that immediately captured the audience and its attention. The very reason that we all love Nick, was also a reason that his show seemed protracted at times. His incredible mono tone, “Ron Swanson voice”, Was mesmerizing to the point of sleep. While I loved the show, I doubt that I would return to see him just because it was a “been there, done that“ experience. The audience was well behaved, and as usual, the Tanger Center, staff was incredible.
Nick Offerman's show was funny and surprising. My husband and I really enjoyed it. I would look forward to him doing another tour!
I had no idea what to expect. I enjoyed most of the show but found some of it just vulgar and perverse and not funny
I liked Nick Offerman but the venue was less than desirable. No bags are allowed in larger than a wallet, although they had a screener and people looking at the wallets. huh? The seats are very uncomfortable. Rowas are so small that everyone is disrupted when people move in and out. Parking was $25. This is Baltimore, not Philly. Won't go back.
Had a great time at the Lyric seeing Nick Offerman. Fun show with lots of laughs!
Nick Offerman is a delightful performer and humorist in more ways that I could have anticipated—from his droll delivery and surprising subject matter to proclamations of adoration and a touching paean to his beloved wife. Just wow. I was entertained, amused, and enlightened and I would happily add his high-pitched giggle of delight as a ringtone on my phone. Much respect, Mr. O. Would see again.
I didn't know what to expect, and ended up completely impressed! Very clever humor... and lots of singing, which totally added to the entertainment value! The world needs more Nick!!
Nick is a dynamic performer and put on an entertaining show! As expected, lots of great humor and audience engagement. Going into the show, we did anticipate more content related to his long-standing character from Parks and Recreation, Ron Swanson. It was made quite clear that was not part of the bit and changed the dynamic of the show.
…in the best way! Nick is so charming and his storytelling through songs was so entertaining. He covered an insanely random range of topics and it felt like a fun conversation with a friend. Would absolutely recommend!
What a soap box he stood on. Mildly humorous, super preachy. I don't mind dirty humor, but his version of it was just gross. Not for kids. Would not recommend.
It takes a lot to make me laugh. I couldn’t stop laughing.
If you've seen and liked his other stage shows/stand-up, you know what to expect and you'll enjoy it. If you're expecting to see a live version of the characters he's played on TV, you will be disappointed. My only complaint is that he came on stage over a half hour past the listed start time, and there wasn't an opener to fill that time. It's not something I would recommend to everyone, he isn't a traditional stand-up comedian. But if you like dry humor and folksy humorous songs, it's worth giving him a chance. I would suggest YouTubing some of his stuff to know what you're getting before buying a ticket though.
Offerman is so charming. Excellent show - very funny.
Initially was fine. We go to concerts, comedy shows to get away from the world for a bit. We want to be entertained! I don’t feel that this particular show was very entertaining!
You know it was a good show when you pee your pants from laughing so hard. There was a moment where I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard (#gordon lightfoot). I thought he was just amazing. I hope to see him in Cincinnati again.
Enjoyed the show, very funny. I could have done without the political views though. I was there to laugh not be lectured.
Nick Offerman is one of my favorite actors. I was so excited to see him and he did not disappoint. He’s hilarious, incredibly talented and brilliant. He kept us engaged the whole show. Will definitely see him the next time he’s around or in Cincinnati.
Nick Offerman is an incredible performer. Great story teller, sweet, the right amount of dirty and so hilarious.
