About

For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season starting with the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic featuring the Florida Panthers hosting the New York Rangers at loanDepot park, on Jan. 2, 2026.

The 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic will mark the first-ever NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Panthers and the sixth for the Rangers, who hold an NHL-best 5-0-0 record in outdoor games. The NHL Winter Classic continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year, with the 2026 edition marking the 17th NHL Winter Classic.

  • Winter Classic Epic Event

by Kraken Jay on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The Winter Classic is a can’t miss event. It was a great game and beautiful day for outdoor hockey.

  • Hockey experience of a lifetime!

by ErinR on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The NHL, host city Seattle, home-team Seattle Kraken, and the visiting Vegas Golden Knights all knocked it out of the park (pardon the pun) with this Winter Classic event. From the stunning reimagining of T-Mobile Park into the depths of the mysterious Kraken's beautiful born-of-the-sea Pacific Northwest home; to the array of fun events, both virtual and in-person; the fun activities in the free Fan Village; to all the beautiful & clever graphics & visuals; to in-game entertainment, including amazing & creating food offerings; the Whidbey NAS flyover; humor, nostalgia, energy, laughter, adrenaline... all of it. Just top notch all the way. The NHL also did a great job of keeping us all prepared and in-the-know in the leadup to the event, to mitigate potential snafus for us ticketholders "on the day"and ensure we knew what to expect and how to prepare. I'm still glowing and I'll NEVER forget this event! Profound thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen, and of course to the Seattle Mariners for sharing their home with us hockey-heads!

  • Lines too long

    by Hockey fan76 on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

Fan zone 0/5: Tried to go to the fan zone prior to the game and despite registering for the event the lines were massive and didn’t see worth the wait. Security 0/5: We were told small clear bags only and this was ignored by attendees and staff. Either enfore the rules or don’t set the policy. Consessions 3/5: not all concessions were open. And the lines were long ran out of beer and menu options. You knew there was going to be more than 45,000 attendees plan for it. Crowd vendors 5/5: came thru the sections frequently. Well done. Puck drop 1/5: well that was just embarrassing Hockey 5/5: great game nice touch amplifying the game sounds. Decent sight lines. Intermission 1 4/5: two songs by heart but feel you could have got a more relevant band. Intermission 2 3/5: you set up a stage and sound system use them. Sport legends could have been better served pre game. Fan gear store 0/5: long lines at every one I passed. Staff 5/5: pleasant to interact with.

  • Fun but way too crowded

by Savvy on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

The game & entertainment was great. The volume of people was not. We could barely even make it to our seats & the food stands outside our section ran out of food. Staggering the entrances would have helped. Early entry for season ticket holders or something to that effect. Or selling merch at the Fan Village as well. We never even bothered to try buying anything.

  • Cool experience, terrible view

by Steph on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

The pre-game events were awesome! We enjoyed the fish toss, the planes flying overhead, and the entertainment during breaks. We knew that the ice was going to be further away since it’s at a baseball stadium, but we didn’t anticipate not being able to see the game. The rink was like eye level with us AND far away so we could barely see the puck. The more expensive seats up front were actually worse for watching the game. We had to watch most of it on the big screen which was a bummer.

  • Greatness

    by KOD3 on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great experience to see these 2 great teams play a sold out MLB Stadium. More than double the capacity of a standard NHL Arena. The Winter Classic is hockey’s equivalent to basketball’s street hoops. It’s a rough and rugged open ice fight to the finish. The refs called very little penalties and really let the teams play and battle it out. This particular winter classic appears to be the most special yet. The hosting team shut out the defending champions. A first in Winter Classic history. A second for this young goaltender who’s used to playing AHL Arena’s with a standard capacity of 10,000. Great to see he held his composure in these conditions. I look forward to see what greatness he can achieve this year for the Kraken.

  • Great Event!

The WC in Seattle went off without a hitch. Great event, let's do it again

  • NHL sets the bar

by Riedmann on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

NHL NAILED IT! The Winter Classic was excellent from start to finish. I've been to a number of sports "events", and this one left all others in the dust. From the respect paid to the PNW, to the fan interractions, to the non-game entertainment, it was an absolute win! Highly impressed by the NHL.

  • Absolutely astonishing

by SergeG on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to many sporting events and this ranks in my top 3

  • GREAT EXPERIENCE

by Technobobm on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Searching for the seats at the winter classic was easy though TicketMaster. The ability to use the filter made it easier to trim down seat availability. When purchasing the tickets it was very nice to see multiple options for payment. Having the app on the phone made it easy to keep in touch with the purchase and TicketMaster kept you informed about your purchase up to the day of the winter classic through emails. If I had to change anything about the process I would add about 1-2 minutes to the timeout counter so you could take the time to read through all the information. It seemed the I was rushing through the screens and when I finished the purchase I had 7 seconds to spare.

  • Fantastic event

by Leafsfan on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

From the city and attractions, to the game, facility, and all that it entails, this was a great experience! Would certainly do this again.

  • 1st Winter Classic in Seattle

by SEAHAWKS on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Living off and on over the years in the PNW, I’m never disappointed in the spirit of those that attend the events in Seattle. There is something in the water here that makes living in the sometimes harsh climate of the PNW that makes the fans really love their hometown teams. The Kraken excitement was amazing and so much fun to experience with my two sons who hadn’t had an opportunity to attend a live NHL game as we live in Hawaii. From seeing some of our favorite football legends to hearing Sir Mix A Lot wrap, and the Heart band play which I grew up with…simply amazing. Thanks for making the 2023 Seattle NHL Winter Classic a wonderful memory! PS-Loved seeing Edgar Martinez#HOF

  • 1st hockey game ever

by PE on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The stadium was at capacity, fans were enthusiastic, lines for vendors were long, the playing field and rink were creatively designed, the actual game was best visible from our seats on the Jumbotron screen. Yes, this was worth attending!

  • Excellent event.

    by Paul s. on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience. Great weather. Party atmosphere.

  • Fun but room to improve

by Brat on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great game and fun. Venue seemed a little underprepared for the amount of people. Vendors running out of food and such. Wish the fan zone was open longer. By the time you stood in line to see the cup and maybe one event it was time for the game. Missed out on 90% of the fan village.

  • A Wonderful Winter Experience

by John DeVore on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

First Winter Classic I have attended and got to do so with my adult son. Although the setting of a baseball stadium (Seattle's T-Mobile Park) is not the most ideal for view, it was a great experience. There were parts of the rink that you could not see from our seats so we had to periodically watch it from the jumbo screen in center field. Paying as much as we did for limited view seats is the only reason I gave this a four-star (rather than five-star) rating. The experience was very special and memorable, especially to enjoy it with my son. We enjoyed the break-time activities that were provided, such as the mini-concert with Heart performing. To cap the day off with a shut-out win (first one in Winter Classic history) over the Las Vegas Knights was a great way to top off the experience.

  • Fantastic Winter Classic!

by JT on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I loved everything about the Winter Classic in Seattle on New Year's Day. The nautical theme was present throughout the "set props"(shipwreck and Kraken tentacles, docks, ponds and boats, fishermen tossing salmon, etc.). Very cool to have Sir Mix-A-Lot sing when the players came out of the lockers and onto the ice - that was a big treat. National Anthem was special (young guitar player, huge flag unfurled on the ice). The helicopter fly-over was unreal. The band Heart's performance at first intermission was really fun (they sounded great) and having Seattle sports celebrities from the past make an appearance was a nice touch. I'm sure I overlooked things because there was so much going on from an entertainment standpoint. Well done!

  • Great content at a hockey game.

by Best and Worst Seat on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Having never been to an outdoor game such as the 2024 Winter Classic I didn’t know what to expect. Picking a seat was daunting but this much is true, I had an amazing seat for the Heart concert! Only wish that was the entire event as I was so far from the ice rink that I practically needed binoculars. All in all it was an experience I’ll never forget.

  • Magical Winter Classic

by Corky on 1/4/24T-Mobile Park - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

The Winter Classic was spectacular and the local Kraken fans made VGK fans welcome! Had a great time even if VGK lost!

  • Epic

Just a awesome experience, loved how the rink was set up.
