New York Knicks History
The Knicks were established in 1946 and were one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. The Knicks and Boston Celtics are the only two original NBA teams still located in their original cities.
The Knicks saw early success, advancing to the NBA Finals in three consecutive years from 1950 to 1953. They lost all three series, twice to the Minneapolis Lakers and once to the Rochester Royals. The franchise’s next successful era began in the late '60s, under the tutelage of head coach Red Holzman. They won 54 games in Holzman's first full season as head coach in the 1968–69 season, then improved to 60 wins the following year. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Holzman won Coach of the Year, while center Willis Reed won NBA MVP and Finals MVP.
Holzman and Reed led the Knicks back to the finals in two of the next three seasons, facing the Lakers both times. They split those two series, winning their second championship in the 1972–73 season.
The Knicks did not experience success again until the '90s, when future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing led them back to the NBA Finals in 1993–94 and 1998–99. They lost both series, first in seven games to the Houston Rockets, then in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks traded for star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He proved to be an elite scorer, but team success eluded the Knicks. They made it to the playoffs three times in Anthony's seven-year tenure with the team, winning one series in 2013.
The Knicks reached the playoffs once again during the 2020–21 season, reinvigorated by power forward Julius Randle, who was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player distinction in 2021, and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2023 with the additional firepower of newly-acquired point guard Jalen Brunson. The Knicks most recently reached the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2025 NBA playoffs, marking their first appearance in the conference finals since the 1999-2000 season.

One of our best experience in NYC. What a show. Let's go Knicks !
Fantastic experience from all aspects. Venue was superb, spotless and had such great ranges of food and beverages to choose from, something for everyone. Despite the crowd the venue didn’t feel overcrowded and the staff did a great job of keeping the flow of people moving. Overall game experience; entertainment, stats, competitions, music and video was great too. Such a fabulous game atmosphere. Only downside was escalators being off at the end, signposting for those who have difficulty with stairs would have been good.
The number 1 to do when you are in NY. It’s not just a game it’s a real expérience to be in the Madison Square Garden and Watch à basketball game !
Good morning We misread the schedule and didn't see the game too bad, it was my daughter's dream So we came from France for nothing Sincerely
Go to MSG, asap! You will never regret the moeny you spend!
Checked out the last game of the season vs the Bulls on fan appreciation night. Great atmosphere. Love the Knicks.

Great game and fantastic atmosphere at the game. Very exciting
We had an amazing time, great energy, great seats!
I was visiting NYC and being a long time basketball fan I couldn’t miss attending to at least one game. Best decision ever!! It was definitely a key moment in my trip! Wish I had something like this where I’m from. Regarding the ticket: if you have your Apple account bound to US, Wallet will work as a charm. Otherwise, you will have to use tickets available from website, which also work fine, but not as smooth as Wallet.
Amazing! Pure enterteiment! Fun! fantastic! Evething pretty good
Great experience both on court with a great game and off court with setup, shows and catering
This was my first time at a Basketball game let alone a Knicks game and i had an amazing time! The game and entertainment were fanastic and i really wish i could go again!
It was my first visit to NYC and of course my first visit to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks - my first live basketball game. What an experience…….amazing. My family were in NYC for 5 days and the NY Knicks game was the highlight for all of us
Astonishing and wonderful event for families, really enjoyed
To see a NBA game... what an exciting experience! The family enjoyed every minute of the night!
Great seats. Easy to retrieve tickets. We flew from Puerto Rico to be watch our favorite NBA team. Not disappointed at all
1st time attending a professional basketball game and boy were we treated to an unforgettable experience. The result aside the atmosphere at MSG was exceptional and the venue didn’t disappoint, quick smooth entry and good choice of food. View from seat was better than expected. Grandson has memories that will last a lifetime.
Having only been to a few basketball games in the USA, I found this one to be less entertaining than others. The DJ/Music/commentator was not as loud or as fun and the crowd are more serious, not helped by a few people in the crowd swearing despite many children there. Entering the venue was easy and secure.
