New York Giants History

A cornerstone franchise of the National Football League, the New York Giants began play in 1925. Legally, the Giants are named “The New York Football Giants,” which distinguished them from the “New York Giants” baseball team that called New York their home until 1957, before moving to San Francisco.

As one of the most awarded franchises in history, the Giants have won eight league championships — including a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, their second in five seasons. The Giants (also known as the G-Men, the Jints and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew) are the only franchise in the NFL with a Super Bowl victory in each of the last four decades.

New York Giants at MetLife Stadium

The Giants are an institution with a storied history, and loyal fans can remember games at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx, Shea Stadium in Queens, the Yale Bowl, and Giants Stadium. MetLife Stadium, which became the Giants’ home stadium starting in 2010, is housed at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and is also home to the New York Jets, making it one of only two stadiums shared by two NFL teams.

The stadium cost approximately $1.6 billion to construct, which at the time made it the most expensive stadiums to be built in the U.S. With a capacity of 82,500, MetLife Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL. The stadium has hosted such major sporting events as the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl XLVIII, Copa America Centenario Final, and the 2021 Army-Navy Game. It will also serve as a site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

  • Fan Experience

by Twbcfo on 11/19/25MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 2 out of 5

MetLife Stadium is the worst fan experience in the country. From horrible traffic & parking logistics to not being able to get to your section (201) from the second deck to 40 minute wait at concessions during halftime through 3rd period to 4 huge screens that showed more commercials than replays, especially challenges. I have been to over 25 stadiums and nothing is as bad as MetLife. Driving out of the stadium after game was a didaster also.

I surprised my husband with tickets to go see his favorite team 49ers! He’s a die hard fan!! I made it happen for him since they were going to be coming to the east coast and he was so excited and happy. We had a really great time! We meet so many cool people. It was an awesome first time experience for us both!

Took my family it was a blast seeing them enjoy the stadium for the first time. Parking was a nightmare though, and we missed kickoff which was a bummer. Won’t be able to go this time, I have 4 tickets don’t know if anyone wants them. If you want ‘em, hit me up. First come, first served.

  • What A Great Place to See A Game

by Purple Debbie on 9/25/25MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 5 out of 5

I have never been to MetLife stadium and was so surprised at EVERYTHING there. Parking was easy, you could not walk 10 feet without someone asking you if you need assistance. Security was awesome, I honestly felt very safe. We had great handicapped seats, easy to access, a great view, plenty of room for a chair and the woman assigned to our area was AWESOME!!! They had complimentary chips, all kinds, granola bars, and hot chicken wings and meatballs. We had a wonderful time, everything was so easy. WE went to the game to see the Chiefs and everyone I met was extremely nice and supportive!!

  • Awesome venue

by Giants fan Luke on 9/25/25MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 5 out of 5

The ticket and parking pass buying experience is as a little rough. It was my first time and not the most user friendly website. After purchase, the digital tickets and information sent to me was very good. Everything went flawless and would definitely do this again. MetLife stadium was an amazing experience. Loved it with my family.

  • Love the energy, boring game

by Jo R. on 9/24/25MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 3 out of 5

MetLife Stadium never disappoints in the energy the fans produce and the general atmosphere of excitement. However, the game was not stimulating at all, sloppy, slow. Left at half time.
