Aside from the game being boring, the experience at Aggie Memorial Stadium was by far the worst I have ever had in 20 years as a college football fan. I've been to games in Indiana, Ohio, and Texas, and this was by far the worst experience of any I have ever had. The stadium is nice enough, but the behavior of the fans -both those cheering for the Aggies and the visiting Lobos - was boorish and offensive.
I understand college kids and adults get drunk and act like idiots at football games. I understand that foul language and obscene gestures happen and it's not the end of the world. However, when the PA announce makes multiple announcements that this type of behavior will not be tolerated, there needs to be a penalty when it happens. At the very least, ushers and security need to make an attempt to stop this behavior rather than ignoring it. When my wife and I had finally had enough, we decided to move to the cheap seats to one of the many, MANY empty rows in the nosebleeds midway through the third quarter. As we attempted this we were informed by an usher that we couldn't sit there because we didn't have tickets for that sections. We would have to leave the stadium, go to the ticket window and request new tickets. Irritated and tired with the hassle, we called it a night at that point.
We will not be going to any other sporting events at NMSU.
