New Jersey Devils History

The New Jersey Devils were born in 1982, the third incarnation of a franchise that began as the Kansas City Scouts (1974-76) before spending six years in Denver as the Colorado Rockies. The arrival of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987 started the franchise's rise to the NHL elite. The Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons, including five trips to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Devils made it as far as the conference finals in the 1987-1988 and 1993-1994 seasons, preparing them for their historic run the following year in which they won their first Stanley Cup Championship, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings.

The Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, dispatching the Dallas Stars in six games on an iconic double-overtime Cup-clinching goal by Jason Arnott. The next season, as the best offensive team in the NHL, they returned to the Final.

The Devils' stretch of dominance was far from over, though. They won their third Stanley Cup Championship in 2003, spoiling the Anaheim Ducks’ first-ever playoff run with a Game 7 shutout orchestrated by Martin Brodeur. To date, the club has won three Stanley Cup Championships and five Eastern Conference Championships.

In 2022, the Devils returned to the second round of the playoffsβ€”their first time since 2011. Led by young stars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, the Devils defeated their long-time rivals the New York Rangers in the first round, before losing their next series to the Carolina Hurricanes.Β Β

Love the Prudential Center. Top notch service. Great place. Terrible game. Should have granted refunds for a total lack of effort on the Marine Corps Birthday. Except the goalie.

We made it to the practice, had the blast of a time there. Good seating overall, spectacular view! Enjoyed it, nice food as well. Along with packs of Devils fans, we cheered on the Devils to win during the Canadians gaining point, we made it in the end! πŸ˜Šβ˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈπŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

  • AWESOME

by Luke on 10/30/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Been a Devils fan since they moved to Jersey and my all time favorite player was Ken Daneyko. I got to meet him and talk to him. What made the moment was he signed my Devils jersey and also took the time to take a picture with me it was quite a night. Devils won 6-2 and Daneyko is a Class Act and the seats were amazing.

  • The Best

  • Exciting Game

by Nic on 10/22/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

Loved my seats for an affordable price at about $100 in section 106 watching the Devils play an action packed game despite the loss. Crazy watching a total of 11 goals scored this game.

  • great!

  • Great Night out

by Paul on 10/3/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

The kids and I went to our first hockey game and we loved it. Once you get past the Rock employees at the door and security (they look like they are being forced to work there) you will have a really great time. All of the seats offer a great view and there are plenty of food options. The action was great and the Devils won. Considering this was only a pre-season game, I can only image what happens when it counts! We may have found our winter sport.

  • Awesome night!

    by Msnurse133 on 10/3/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

It was preseason but was a fantastic time. Sat in the restaurant area for the first time. Very happy with it. Marty's son was in net for Devils and did a great job! Absolute bonus that devils beat the Rangers!

  • Good time at the rock

by Jim on 9/28/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Going to the rock is always an enjoyable time. The staff is great. Food concession prices are high but eat before you go. The experience is worth the price of admission

  • NJ Devils Preseason Game

by Sha on 9/25/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first NJ Devils game. I like the mascot, the half time show, the snapshots of the crowd, and of course the players.

  • Great Expirance

by Marek on 4/17/24Rating: 5 out of 5

The game was super fun to watch especially to hear the loud goal horn. The chants were amazing. It wasn't my first time at the rock but its always amazing to watch the amazing Devils. No playoffs this year but next year will be much better. We did lose 4-1 but it was a really good experience!

  • Solid NHL experience

by Niko on 3/24/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

First time to see NHL game in North America. Solid experience. Arena is good and love the monster screen. It is huge. Main issue is the surroundings of the arena, where not much to do or see. Had a beer in the Redd’s which was nice experience.

  • The game was boring but the seats were great.

by Edski on 2/27/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 3 out of 5

Seats were in last row of sec11. Two seats on the end. Everything was close by. Food, drinks, and bathrooms. Devils won the game 4-3. It seemed that there was no energy from the crowd or from the team.

  • Great game, food costs ridiculous

by MG on 2/27/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 3 out of 5

I know prices have increased but concessions are out of line. Time to start eating beforehand

  • Oddly surreal

    by Mr C on 2/18/24Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I had visited the PSG game in Paris a few days earlier where I sat with my son in the grimy Ultras section. Atmosphere mentally electric and a true connection with the team. Roll forward 7 days and I'm at the NJ devils NHL game at the gorgeous Prudential stadium which had great food options and very tidy (almost sterile). The game itself was fun to watch, loads of cracking audience participation and it was fun with a T-Shirt toss and ducks on parachutes being flown from the gantry. Fans reminded to behave at all times (pent up frustration noticed) and the most rowdy it got was the referee making a couple of wrong decisions. Without this there would have been no atmosphere, but oddly it worked for me. The sterility of the stadium was therefore matched with the benign, almost fractured chanting of the fans but compared to PSG, it might be one extreme to the other. Nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed and the transport network to get there from NYC was cheap and easy. In summary, a very American experience, but worth a visit. Perhaps lots for football teams to consider in terms of fan entertainment.

Has a great night watching the Devil's, ticket included access to the Prudential Lounge which was a great experience. Staff very friendly and able to help as a first time visitor to the Prudential arena. What a game to choose, Devils win in OT
