About NASCAR Cup Series
The NASCAR Cup Series is top-tier of three national touring series in the sport alongside the Xfinity Series and Truck Series. The Cup Series operates with a points system. The driver sitting atop the leaderboard to finish the regular season earns 15 playoff points. The Cup Series playoff features the 16 highest-scoring drivers competing through four rounds. A winning driver and winning owner are annually crowned separately.
The Cup Series season runs from February to November every year. NASCAR relocated its Championship Weekend from Homestead-Miami Speedway, which hosted the event for 18 seasons, to ISM Raceway near Phoenix, Arizona.
Iconic tracks that host Cup Series races include the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Talladega Superspeedway. The Daytona 500 has annually served as the season-opening Cup Series race since 1982.
History of NASCAR Cup Series
The NASCAR Cup Series was founded in 1949 by Bill France Sr. and has undergone several evolutions since. It began as the Strictly Stock Series before switching to the Grand National Series (1950-71), Winston Cup Series (1971-2003), Nextel Cup Series (2004-07), Sprint Cup Series (2008-16) and the Monster Energy Series through the 2019 season.
NASCAR opted against renewing with Monster Energy and instead announced the Cup Series would feature a multilayered sponsorship model in December 2019. Busch Beer, Coca-Cola, GEICO, and Xfinity were named as "premier partners."
The trophy was renamed the Bill France Cup ahead of the 2020 season, the first without a title sponsor since 1971.
Richard Petty is the winningest all-time Cup Series driver with 200. The octogenarian notched his first win in 1960 and his last in 1984. In March 2019, though, Petty was surpassed by Kyle Busch in terms of all-time combined national series wins.
Jimmy Johnson topped the Cup Series from 2006 to 2010, marking the first time one driver had won in consecutive years since Jeff Gordon (1997-98). The late Dale Earnhardt did so on three separate occasions (1986-87, 1990-91 and 1993-94).

Arrived from Iowa to the track just as the race had started, would have liked to get to the track 2 hours earlier. Rented headphones from vender should have tried them before going to our seats3j red row 4 seat 18 &19 seats. of course they didn't work so at the end of the second stage we returned them ( this is the 2nd race we have gotten headphones that didn't work Chicago was the 1s), vender replaced them they should have been checked by them before renting out we missed 2/3 of the race, Probably purchase our own next time to take to a track. below 34 limited view of the track
If you are a race fan must go to this track. Nice track and very very clean and organized.
It was a nice race and fight at the end. We all enjoyed and next year there will be 2 races.
The race was excellent. The track was good; the main issue was that even though they announced record turnout, the track ran out of water half way through the race. The vendors would not even give you a glass of ice. As for the Raceday Express, the pickup at the casino was great, with no issues. However, the return pickup was absolutely terrible. We were left standing in the hot sun for over an hour and a half before shuttles started arriving to take us to the bus pickup area. There was no water, and I seriously thought I was going to collapse from heat exhaustion. Once we got to the bus pickup area, they were not loading the buses. Instead, they loaded us back into the shuttle buses, which had no air conditioning, and was the worst ride I have ever had. The shuttle buses beat the crap out of you. My husband's mud bogger is a smoother ride than what we experienced. With that said, the Raceday Express is totally NOT worth $80 per person. I will not return to this track, and I would not recommend the Raceday Express to anyone.
First time to Nascar event. Speedway was clean and racetrack staff friendly & helpful. Seats located near trackside (3rd row). View of far side of track was limited. Sights & sounds were AMAZING! (LOUD!) If you like the roar of the engines & the feeling you get from the power of the race cars you should sit low. Recommend sitting up high to view entire track. Staying on LV Strip & going to racetrack is easiest by Nascar shuttle. Tickets available online. A little tricky to purchase shuttle tickets weekend of the event so purchase in advance if possible. WEAR EAR AND SUN PROTECTION!!! VERY LOUD SOUNDS CAN HURT EARS!
Asked for an upgrade seating one month ahead when they called to sell me extras for the event and they said we already had good seats. Which I found out was not true. The day was too hot to enjoy it - 87 degrees. Would have enjoyed it all more at home watching it on TV. Plus I could have got more information about the after fight too. Never again will I go unless its within a drive- able distance. Way to big of an event, with too large of a crowd for me.This was our first and was not impressed. .
Racing and the facility LVMS is always Awesome - I'd highly recommend the trip - the only thing I didn't like was the high priced food and drinks -
great racing, warm weather, good outcome great city lots of passing
I have been going to the races since the mid 50's but this was my first Nascar speedway race and it was BORING. Five laps after restarts they were single file all the way around the track. Very little racing all race. If this had been my first ever race of any kind I dout that I would go to another
Driving into Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a breeze, there was traffic of course. But the police and track staff handled the flow very well, we parked pretty quickly. Our hotel was only 5 minutes from the track and we were parked within 15 minutes. The track staff was overall very helpful. We had a great time at the race, Kyle Busch getting punched in the face after the race was over added extra excitement as well. We will definitely be back!
Awesome experience for my 10 year old. He has been a Nascar fan since as long as I can remember, and it's awesome to watch him enjoy it.
Loved the race. Stayed after to watch victory lane. We were really disappointed that we couldn't see any of it. You would think they would have it where the fans in the stands could watch. Very unhappy with that.
The most exciting time was the 30 seconds following a caution. After that the field strung out single file with minimal passing. Most excitement was on the last lap pass for the win and the fight in the pits. Nascar's plan to get better racing is not working!!
It was a great race wish could have gone down like before could sign the pit wall
With all of the new changes within Nascar and the loss of Sprint Nascar or its pre-race is nothing like it use to be. For lack of anymore to say it was a big bore and not worth the money it took to get to the race
I've been to numerous NASCAR events at multiple tracks and Vegas has to be at the top. The traffic flow in and out has consistently been the best I've seen, even with all the construction going on around the track. The only changes they need to make are to increase the size of the jumbotrons as they look a little small by today's standards and change their very restrictive cooler policy.
Really nice accommodations. Very clean! Friendly staff from concessions to ushers
