About

Nas on Tour

Long regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Nas offers audiences some of hip-hop's most powerful storytelling with classic, hands-in-the-air delivery. A live Nas set typically features both critical favorites and pop hits, including songs from his landmark 1994 LP Illmatic — perhaps one of the most acclaimed rap debuts of all time — and selections from the impressive 11 albums that followed. His evocative rhymes have been featured everywhere from New York's iconic Hot 97 Summer Jam to hip-hop package tour Rock the Bells to a performance at the Kennedy Center backed by the National Symphony Orchestra. Following the release of Nasir, a 7-song album executive produced by Kanye West, the lyrical titan will embark on a co-headlining tour with R&B legend Mary J. Blige.

Nas in Concert

Nas is considered by many to be one of the top five rappers, living or dead; he's a luminary beloved by rap royalty like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. Born Nasir Jones in 1973 (his father is jazz musician Olu Dara), he was raised in Queens, New York, at Queensbridge, a housing project whose deep role in hip-hop history would inspire his lyrics. Performing as the teenage MC Nasty Nas, he emerged with a spotlight-stealing guest verse on Main Source's 1991 single "Live at the Barbeque." Working with an all-star team of New York beatmakers (including DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Q-Tip) his debut album, Illmatic, was a critical sensation. In the 25 years that followed, Nas has released seven platinum solo albums, and one with supergroup The Firm alongside Foxy Brown and AZ. His empowering 2003 single "I Can," built on Beethoven's "Für Elise," broke the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Widely respected as a true hip-hop scholar and lyricist, he's appeared on songs with everyone from Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Lauryn Hill and Kanye West to Amy Winehouse, Justin Bieber, Jack White and the National Symphony Orchestra.

The show was awesome! it was a great mix of both artists. They did some songs together, and some alone. You got the best of both worlds. High energy and fun!

solid set list. made sure to do stuff individually and then together. old, new... could have even done more new from their new album! but overall, it was so tight. those guys are talented and together their energy, style, lyrics, and just sickness is pretty high up there. and the show was just so much fun! "put cha lightas up, cha cell phones!" hahah. so glad they came back on for an encore... it was sickkkkk! love it and their music, whatever kinda genre it is! THIS SHOW WAS TIGHT.

    Do not miss this one!

    by BigE00 on 5/24/10Showbox SoDo - Seattle

Off the hook, quite the duo, two genres collide for musical genius, never again will you see a show of this magnitude (hip-hops don and reggae royalty), this is a must have for hip-hop or reggae lovers and better yet both.

    Nas = G.O.A.T.

by Jeff34 on 5/10/10Highline Ballroom - New York

You're not a Nas fan nor can you appreciate the artist he is until you go to a show. The crowd always shows him love and he just vibes with that enerygy. It's great to be surrounded by Nas fans alike and rock out to all his classics. Sucks that I never heard him perform ether though lol.

nas & damian marley were amazing together, they said they have an album they're doing together and it should be released hopefully sometime this year, if it's anything like their show it's going to be a great album. they are both great by themselves and great together & have a phenomenal chemistry on stage and a great energy solo! great show!

Nas & Junior Gong was an incredible combination

by Lemlem on 7/20/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

As a Jamaican girl who grew up in Queens, I got the best of both worlds at this concert. Attending school with Run DMC, I have a bias with my Queens rappers and Nas is one of my favorites. His topics of discussion in his lyrics have always been intelligent and deep and to team him up with Damian Marley, who represents JAMROCK to the FULLEST, well there's NO QUESTION and NO CONTEST........and the Somalian group was Awesome as well!!! The 2 1/2 hour ride and traffic to Atlantic City from Queens was well worth the trip. One Love

Forgot the catalog was that deep!!

by ODog on 7/20/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Nas has a great energy on stage; he and Damian ripped it! Nas went deep into his catalog and spit tracks from Illmatic. Which is a HIP-HOP classic CD.

    Decent

by JoeAstur on 7/18/09First Avenue - Minneapolis

so we waited for 2 and a half hours to only hear an hour and a half of music... it would have been alot more enjoyable they performed for 2 and a half hours and waited for an hour and a half instead. when they finally came out after 2 1/2 hours, they put on a pretty good show. considering that they each played alone and then together and it only lasted 1 1/2 hours was really dissapointing. HONESTLY for how long we waited they should have played alot longer!! it was an average at best show. i went and saw the roots later that week and they put on a much better show.

    One Mic

by EricP on 7/18/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

I thought the concert was excellent. Nas & Damian did an amazing set. The House of Blues was clean, the sounds were crisp. There was not 100 people on the stage trying to rap over each other. Would recommend, also played music from uncoming album.

    True Love performance

by RasSheba on 7/17/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

This show was hip hop and reggae at its finest. Nas, Kanaan and Damian Marley really displayed true art and what this art form is about. I RESPECT them so much as artists. It's not all about money and being jazzy. It was a real performance. No frontin. I loved it.
