Nahko and MFTP were spectacular as always!

by Sarajah on 10/22/17Paradise Rock Club - Boston

So stoked to have gotten the chance to attend this show. They played almost all new songs off the My Name Is Bear record two days before it even dropped!

I've been following this band for a few years now and I love them. They're great musicians with introspective, deep, and intelligent lyrics.

    Nahko never disappoints!

by Mugglebooks on 10/21/17Paradise Rock Club - Boston

This was, hands down, the best Nahko performance I’ve ever been to. The opening acts were awesome. Christina Holmes and 1000 Fuegos were a solid build up for what culminated in, for lack of a better way to describe it, a truly spiritual experience. He played his whole new album, I’m pretty sure. Plus, he gave explanations for what most of the songs were about or what inspired them, including a hilarious made up off the top of his head farce about Die Like Dinoz. The sound was fantastic and certainly there was definitely a flavor that sets it apart from the usual Medicine for the People sound that any fan is used to, but it really works. The content of the songs is definitely of a more personal note than much of the socially conscious and politically driven music that MFTP is more known for and that created a different vibe in the place. Nahko was supported by the entire band in this journey and the music and lyrics gives us more than a glimpse into who he was between the ages of 18-21. Some highlights from the show that really stand out in my mind and are part of the reason why this show is set apart from most other Nahko and Medicine for the People shows are the way he came out on stage (just him alone playing piano, Clair de lune, I believe, lol), when everyone on stage swapped instruments (Justin plays trombone ,who knew??!!), watching Tim Snyder kill it on the violin (if you’ve never had the opportunity to see him play violin YouTube him! It’s impressive and incredible), and the powerful, amped up version of Ghosts Embodied they played was brilliant. This was truly a listening party experience with a couple familiar tunes thrown in, as he played music that was not yet released. This was a sold out show, on a Wednesday night , I might add. I feel like that is a testament to the immense popularity of this band. I also would like to point out how brave it was of them to play pretty much all new stuff that most people were unfamiliar with and the crowd stayed engaged. The comments I heard as I left the venue echoed my own thoughts “best show ever!” “I don’t care that I have to get up tomorrow early. This was more than worth it.” And as I said in the review title “Nahko never disappoints!”

    Intimate and amazing

by Lovelymango on 10/21/17Paradise Rock Club - Boston

What a show! The venue is intimate but even with a sold out show, it wasn't uncomfortably crammed. I had a view of the stage and even towards the back of the crowd, felt like I could reach out and touch the performers. The sound quality was great, and the show went on without a hitch. Nahko and his band are truly amazing.

Very disappointed that zero songs from the Hola album were played. New songs seem good but since it was relyyet, unfamiliar and difficult to connect to like familiar songs would be. Mixing in new and old would have been amazing.

Nahko medicine for the people changed my life

by Namaste91 on 4/4/14Vanderbilt University Alumni Lawn - Nashville

I listen to the band a week before the concert and absolutely feel in love. With out Knowing what I was getting my self into I bought a ticket to the celebration of life a tribute to Kyle Craig,I had no clue who he was. Wanting to hear nahko live I went for it, it turned out to be an amazing and uplifting experience. The guest speakers really made an awareness about mental illness and addiction. Nahko medicine for the people made us feel like one big family, knowing that the bongo drummer was from Louisville which is where I live was pretty cool. After the show each band member stuck around and hung out with their fan which I wasn't expecting because not many bands do that. It was and great time they put on an amazing performance. Thank you nahko medicine for the people.
