The Warfield is an awesome little theater on Market Street in San Francisco and lucky for me the tickets were mostly standing room only; I got there around 8:15 pm for the 9 pm show time and walked right up to will call and then right inside the venue and was pretty dang near front row center. The opening act was okay, Black Eyed Peas-ish and the female vocalist in the group reminded me of a less cool Fergie but I guess they were better than I expected. I was expecting Clipse but found out at the venue that he wasn't gonna be there. Anyways, N.E.R.D. was awesome, they played for a little over an hour (which I felt coulda been longer) and they always bring a ton of energy to their shows. They don't really ever sing too many mellow songs but the ones they do sing (ie Maybe) are pretty hard core; at several moments during the show huge male fans essentially created a mosh pit and I kinda feared for my life. But that's what you get with N.E.R.D., they aren't super polished but they don't have to be. For a number of songs, they pulled up a ton of guys from the audience and then later a ton of females (pretty much anyone in the front who wanted to go up) for a few more songs. I only wish that they had played more of their older stuff (a lot of my favorites were condensed into a medley of brief clips of older songs) but I guess I can't really complain, they do have a new cd to promote. And, they announced that they are working on their next. Overall a great value for the price, especially for the true N*E*R*D* fan who knows all their stuff.
