We really joined hearing Dr. Hawass speak at the SF War Memorial. He is a dynamic spokesperson for Egypt and their Egyptian treasures. We definitely recommend to others to listen to him speak about the treasures of Egypt.

    Dr. Hawass was amazing!

by bevyg on 3/10/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

Hawass spoke for over an hour and had the audience entranced by his tales of Egypt and its antiquities. Even better than his many PBS, history channel, National Geographic specials, he spoke without using notes and had a great slide show/movie presentation to add to his comments.

    great

by Musicfan1972 on 3/10/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

Dr. Hawass is wonderful. He is so engaging!!! He is good natured and can laugh about the press calling him a media hound. The great thing is that you can feel his passion for archeology and his own culture past and present. His presentation was not stuffy and you will leave with a new found passion for Egypt and all that the mummies can tell us now. His love of children was heart warming and i am sure more than one child left that event with a new career choice.

It was a great and very enjoyable presentation.

I can see why Dr. Hawass is world famous, he is extremely charismatic, humorous and very likeable. He also is very knowledgeable and cares passionately about archeology. What was also very impressive is that he really seems sincere in wanting to help kids (getting their emails to answer questions and help them in the future). The time just flew by and I think it is a MUST SEE event.

Unbelievably fantastic!! Have been wanting to meet this man for ages, and he delivered the goods! He was funny, informative, fascinating and better than Indiana Jones!!! I was on the edge of my seat through most of the lecture, especially when he was revealing his latest discoveries! Loved the whole thing and getting to meet him after to sign my book was the icing on the cake!

Mysteries of Tut w/Dr. Zahi Hawass

by Kibbens on 3/9/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

Amazing, is all I can say! Dr. Hawass kept the audience spellbound the whole time he spoke. Even though there was a large audience, he made the evening seem intimate as he told us of several new discoveries and clarified other mysteries/misconceptions. His personable nature had us laughing at his corny stories and oohing and aahing over the slides he used to demonstrate the intricacies of getting down into the tombs, making discoveries and bringing the discoveries out. I did have a difficult time understanding what Dr. Hawass was saying at times because of his strong accent and found myself wishing close captioning was provided as I wanted to hear everything he had to say. Egypt has always been a fascination for me and I plan to go there some time in the next few years. It would be incredible to have my family meet Dr. Hawass and have him show us his current project(s).

Dr. Zahi Hawass is an extraordinary gentleman!

by 7Bastets on 3/9/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

Last night I had the extreme pleasure of attending Dr. Hawass talk regarding the Mysteries of Tutankamun. He is a most extraordinary gentleman, with a remarkable sense of humor to boot. For historians and archeologists (armchair or real) he is incredibly inspirational and I would say, for our future generations, the same. His passion and love for what he does is translated to all who lend an ear, and his focus on our youth and their future as posssible archeologists is what gives him his impetus. Altogether a delightful and informative evening!

    Dr. Zahi Hawass was inspirational.

by Anonymous on 3/9/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

This lecture was unforgettable! Dr. Hawass has acomplished more in his lifetime than most people could ever dream of. I especially liked his work in fundraising for the children of Egypt and young archaeologists. He is inspiring to children and getting them interested in Archaeology ! I wish he was the Head of the supreme council of antiquities in Egypt when I was a kid, I would have been digging in the sands of Egypt as we speak. I also must add that he is drawing attention to the field of anthropology because of his media prowess and multiple acomplishments. This is really wonderful because there are so many exciting things happening in this field especially in forensic anthropology. Dr. Hawass incorporated Ct scanner technology into his research on the mummies of Queen Hashepsut and King Tutankamun to identify them, show how they died, and really the general health of them including diseases they had. This was incredible!

Dr. Zahi Hawass is an exciting speaker!

by JaxView on 3/9/10War Memorial Opera House - San Francisco

Dr. Hawass is energetic, polished and professional. He shares his enthusiasm for Egyptian archaelogy, and you feel his passion for his work in his homeland; the slide show was very professional and informative, and the bottom line is: YOU WANT TO GO TO EGYPT TOMORROW! He is also a slick merchandiser / marketer - - you can buy a replica of his famous "Indiana Jones" style hat, autographed for just $45! To be fair, the money does go towards research in his field in Egypt. The line for book buyers of the King Tut catalogue was hours long at the end of the "show," a tribute to his expertise.
