About

Over nine studio albums, My Morning Jacket has evolved the reverb-heavy country of their debut (1999’s The Tennessee Fire) to a sound that transcends genres. Singer-songwriter Jim James has pushed the band past their regional roots in Louisville, Kentucky, toward the psychedelic, reggae-influenced sounds on albums like It Still Moves (2003) and Z (2005) — the latter proving to be their critical breakthrough. In 2008, My Morning Jacket performed on Saturday Night Live, while their Grammy-nominated album Evil Urges became their first top 10 on the Billboard 200. The band’s rain-soaked set at Bonnaroo that same year is considered one of the festival’s most iconic, and My Morning Jacket has since shared bills with Bob Dylan, Foo Fighters and Wilco.

MMJ & Preservation Hall bring the real deal

by Lis23 on 4/24/10Chastain Park Amphitheatre Live Nation - Atlanta

Great show! I think MMJ would have played another hour but for the, well I'll be nice, unfortunate, curfew at Chastain. Loved the finale with Preservation Hall, and their opening set was old, old school charm! Thanks for the second line too, Y'all!

MMJ was great, the sound always suffers a bit at Chastain, but all the other elements came together to make it a really enjoyable evening. They played lots of the Evil Urges stuff, as well as a good peppering of the older music. I was on my feet dancing for most of the show.

    amazing play set

by jackbauer1123 on 4/24/10Chastain Park Amphitheatre Live Nation - Atlanta

The set was awesome and if you've listen to any of their live albums you know they sound even better live than in the studio. Amazing amount of energy and perfect atmosphere. They had a nice mix of old and new. My favorite album is it still moves and was happy to here 4 or 5 from that album. Really liked their selection.

My Morning Jacket under the stars

by MikeTheReviewer on 4/24/10Chastain Park Amphitheatre Live Nation - Atlanta

The show at Chastain was awesome! 'Nuff said. The music flowed until the local law made it stop....could have played all night otherwise, I think.

by Alliswan on 4/23/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

If I could rate this show based solely on the performance of the band, I would no doubt give it a full 5 stars. But, there was also an unfortunate venue involved that hurts the score a little. The Municipal Auditorium had lame sound quality and was a little bit depressing with too much concrete. My Morning Jacket, however, was a dream come true.

    Awesome

by SuperOtter on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

Best band in America. I saw Muse last month, and while they had a more elaborate stage setup, their music can't compare to the Jacket's. Thanks so much for coming to Nashville guys. I can't wait to see you again.

    Sounded Great

by Bluedwards on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

My Morning Jacket translates well to the stage. You get the experience of a live show but at the same time the band's songs also sound very similar to their studio albums even when playing live.

    Face Melter

by WalterSobchak on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

Great show. Started off a bit sluggishly but the crowd refused to settle and Jim James responded. He's a master showman.

I was sick - still went - enjoyed every bit of it.

by MissAwesome on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

I was sick the day before and the night of the concert. I almost didn't go, but it was MMJ. I couldn't miss it. The show was great. They really are a great jam band live. Even if you are a new fan and don't know all of their songs the show will keep you moving the whole time.

My Morning Jacket melts faces like always!

by ellisintransit on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

If you've ever witnessed the almighty power that is My Morning Jacket, you already know what this show was like. Their first arena performance in Nashville was everything you could expect...brain-melting solos, funked-out covers, and Yim Yames sporting a gun holster complete with orange NES Zapper, wielded with fury throughout the night. Preservation Hall Jazz Band opened the festivities including St. James Infirmary and Louisiana Fairytale featuring Yim Yames on megaphone. Covers by MMJ included Losin Yo Head by Monsters of Folk, Move on Up by Curtis Mayfield, Mother in Law (written) by Allen Toussaint, and Carnival Time by Al Johnson. A new song (Friends Again) here, and a rare treat (Wonderful The Way I Feel) there made this another Nashville MMJ show for the ages.

    Incredible Show

by Ethan724 on 4/22/10Nashville Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

I am from Louisville where this band got started and got to see them in my college town. I gotta say, this is the 3rd time I have seen them and this was by far the best. Jim James and the guys truly know how to work the crowd, jam, end a song, and choose a set list. I havent had that much fun at a concert in a long time. Unbelievable show start to finish. Its the first time i saw a crowd cheering outside the auditorium just for the sake of how happy they were.

This show was pretty fantastic. The guitarist... whew. I'll definately be checking these guys out when they come back in town.
