Asheville itself is amazing, but add a festival and its mind blowing. Coming from the Bonaroo guys, there is a bit of professionalism (performance art, comprehensive festival app, convenient RFID wristbands). On top of that they pulled a diverse and impressive lineup. I'd say you should go next year but I don't want it to be crowded ; )
Every show I saw this past weekend was awesome. I saw some of my absolute favorite artists (like bassnectar and pretty lights) and was introduced to some amazing artists that I have never seen before (ie: Robert Delong, Cashmere Cat). The light shows were absolutely amazing. I only wish that the shows would have gone later each night..not sure if that's a possibility. Overall fantastic weekend! I didn't want to leave.
Nine Inch Nails put on perhaps the best show I've ever seen. And I've seen him a few times now. Pretty Lights absolutely killed it with their new live show easily the best show I've ever seen from them. Bassnectar was unforgettable as always, and Disclosure was an unexpected surprise!! We had VIP seating in the Balcony and the experience was unforgettable, room to dance, view felt like we were right on top of the stage, and the sound was amazing, which I was slightly concerned about. VIP was also general admission seating so we were in the bottom row right in front pretty much the whole time. We had such a good time up there that we didn't even make it down to the floor all that much.
Asheville was awesome, the locals were very friendly and helpful. The venues were very nice. Overall it was amazing! We did VIP and had the best seating. It's nice to be able to sit, enjoy and be able to get up and dance if you wanted and still was able to see!
Lineup was impressive with a plethora of popular electronic musicians performing. The light shows in the U.S. Cellular Center were very well done, especially with Pretty Lights, which was considered the signature act by many wearing refractive glasses. Lots of affable people in costume attended and interactions were friendly and easygoing. The overall environment for this festival was very suitable for the general feeling of "let loose and party" that Asheville seeks to espouse.
The bands were amazing!! The lines were not long and the seating arrangement was great! Love the fact that I could get day passes!
It was incredible. The backdrop of Asheville is the perfect setting for great bands/acts, locally brewed beer, good food, interesting panels, etc. Don't miss next year!!!
This festival was amazing. I got to see some of my favorite bands in a once in a lifetime opportunity. I also was able to see bands/artists I never would have before and had a great time. I will definitely attend again as long as my monetary situation allows it!
The lineup was great with some very unique and interesting groups. The only problem I ran into was the distance between all the venues. I was quite surprised there were no shuttle services to help commute, because of this I missed many groups I was hoping to see.
Incredible sound quality and light shows at all venues involved. Best possible lineup of all time. Asheville is beautiful and so are the mountains nearby!
This festival is such a hidden gem. The vibe of Asheville and the vibe of the festival are such a perfect match.
The music was phenomenal. The only negative part was the major schedule conflictions.
This fest works out if there are enough acts you really care to see. The combination of Neutral Milk Hotel, Daniel Johnston, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Animal Collective is what sold me on going. If one of those acts didn't show, I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun and had felt a little ripped off. The fact that the fest is in Asheville makes up for the fact that half of the electronic acts are, well, boring. If MDMA is your thing, you'll have a blast, I'm sure. Otherwise, take time to enjoy the beautiful scenery, hip neighborhoods, amazing food and top notch beer that this town is littered with. I'm planning a whole Asheville-centered vacation because of my awesome experience at this fest.
I have been to a few music festivals before, but this was completely different. Not only were the stages indoors, climate controlled and came with easy access to concessions and REAL BATHROOMS (unlike the porta potties I have been used to at other festivals) but the lineup was terrific and the price was definitely worth the experience. My only complaint would be the typical concern of having 2 or more artists that I wanted to see playing at nearly the same time at different venues, which made it hard to decide who to see or if it would be worth it to leave a show early to catch another one on a different stage. Overall we had a great time, and the music was unforgettable!
Great job putting together a fun, diverse lineup. There was plenty to see and the crowds stayed very manageable. Lights, sound, whole experience was great. We'll be back.
Awesome festival. Bassnectar played an unforgettable set. Raged out as always. Saturday was alright. No one in particular I wanted to see. I had weekend passes, so why not go. Sunday was hands down the best day. Adventure club was good, but I wish they would have played longer than 45 min. PANTyRAiD left me speechless. By far the most fun I had. Disclosure was also good. And of course Prettt Lights was dope. As far as the venue goes, all the shows I wanted to see were in the civic center. Good venue, not a far walk from the parking garage, very accessible, easy to make your way around. Overall, this was an awesome festival. Awesome vibes, cool people, good music. I'll def be back.
Great acts, nice-sized crowds and with enough dedication, the best seats were easy to come by. I enjoyed the city almost as much as the festival and they both went well together. Bosnian Rainbows, Neutral Milk Hotel and Animal Collective were my personal highlights. Was not a fan of having to pay five bucks for a wristband just to verify my age. Nit-picking the minutiae of capitalism aside, great time and highly recommended to anyone who wants to visit the area or see particular acts.
Outside of some opening day mix ups (confusion in VIP as to what was included, pricing on drinks, scanning wristbands, etc.) it ended up being a great event. easy to move from venue to venue in downtown Asheville.
Always an amazing event. The only drawback is schedule conflicts, but that is common with music festivals
The bands were great. The crowd was fun. NIN headlining and the arena wasn't even packed to the sweaty gills?! Thanks good guy Asheville. Plenty of people are going to write amazing reviews so I'll say again - just go. Don't think about it. Don't bemoan the ticket prices. Buy them early and get psyched up for a rad show!
