Morat Background
Known for their peppy pop ballads and sunshine folk, this Colombian quartet — comprised of Juan Pablo Villamil on vocals and banjo, Juan Pablo Isaza on vocals and guitar, percussionist Alejandro Posada, and bassist Simón Vargas — came together in 2015 for their love of crafting folky pop songs.
That same year, they wrote "Mi Nuevo Vicio," which features twinkling arpeggios and the foursome singing some undeniably catchy choruses. Mexican pop powerhouse Paulina Rubio redid the song, featuring the four-piece, and it quickly became a hit and peaked at No. 1 in Spain and No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard's Latin Digital Song Sales, giving Morat massive exposure.
Their debut album Sobre El Amor Y Sus Efectos Secundarios dropped the following year. Charged with rhythmic hand clapping and trumpets galore, their debut also chronicled the emotional roller coaster of romantic love, from its honeymoon phase to its breaking point. Billboard described their sound as the "perfect summer road trip pop in Spanish, with banjo adding an Americana touch."
In 2017, they teamed up with another Mexican heavyweight, ranchera icon Alejandro Fernández, and together they collaborated on the heartbreaking reggaeton-inflected song "Sé Que Te Duele." On their latest 2018 album, Balas Perdidas, Morat continues to pour their heart out, further revealing their prowess for composing contagious folk-tinged pop songs that are made for swooning.
Morat in Concert
There's no doubt that Morat has a knack for crafting brilliant earworm-y pop hooks paired with some delicate string arpeggios that could sweep any bystander off their feet. The compositional dexterity is further revealed in their live performances, which are often charged with dolce harmonies and a boy-next-door appeal that instantly captivate.
Off the success of their last album, the Bogotá quartet embarks on the Balas Perdidas tour in North America starting in April of 2019. They'll also be making a few stops in Spain, where they're slated to perform in Madrid, Barcelona, and Chiclana de la Frontera.
Beautiful theater in San Antonio. Many people to help you get seated. Over all an amazing experience!
Morat is an amazing band, they really love what they do and that’s why everything is so perfect about they’re projects. It was so easy to enter to the concert with the virtual tickets, everyone there are so nice and I didn’t have one problem. Highly recommended
Everything was so organized. The theater it's beautiful and was clean. The sound and lights were so cool. And of course Morat show was simply spectacular!
This is the first concert that I go to since the whole pandemic started. I did not regret going to this concert. It was indeed a very good experience
This was my first time going to go see Morat and was also my first concert after COVID. The energy the band gave was so fun and sang all of their songs. I definitely want to see Morat in concert again.
It was the best concert I have ever been!! Best birthday present ever when this nice guy offer me and my friends tickets to move more closer to them ❤️🥺
There was not a bad seat in the house. Sound was superb, facilities were clean, crowd was great.
A magical 2 hour experience. I love this group so much!!!
I am a relatively new fan. These kids kept such good energy throughout the show. Audience was very engaged and sound was awesome. The venue spectacular. Will attend again when they come to Dallas ❣️
The concert was another level, the band really gave a great show. All my complaints center about the idiotic new policies in place and the little power trips by "security". Limiting the size of purses for ladies forced me to walk back to take my wife's 1/4" too big purse to the car. I was lucky, I had a car. My daughter expressed had she been alone with her friends, they would have been out of luck, for they usually take an Uber to shows and would have had no place to leave their things. If you are going to enforce this, at least provide lockers! Then I go in to have a "Jack and Coke"... and they are out of Coke. I wasn't even surprised at this point, venues just don't care anymore. Which is fine, because someone like me who has tried to support live music, has had it with the mounting little aggravations they inflict on us, the paying publlic. Am glad this was a great show because I am never going back to HOB Anaheim.
it was amazing! The sound quality can be better but it was an unforgettable experience overall. Also, it was super cool to be able to have something to drink while enjoying the concert.
Loved every part of it, the place was amazing for being anle to see them from all places, I’m a brazilian fan and have been waiting years to see them, couldn’t be better😍
