About

Monica is a Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum artist, 30-million-plus selling singer, actress, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, she began her career at 12-years-of-age and was the youngest female ever to have two #1 back-to-back hits on Billboard's R&B chart. "The Boy Is Mine," the title track from her sophomore album, garnered Monica pop success with a record-breaking 13 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her success has continued throughout her exceptional and longstanding career. She achieved six number one hits on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming the first artist with chart-topping singles in three consecutive decades, putting her in the elite company of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, James Brown, and Marvin Gaye who have had similar accolades.

In 2019 she launched her independent record label MonDeenise Music with the first single release "Commitment" hitting #1 on the Billboard R&B chart, and in August 2020 she released "Trenches (ft. Lil Baby)," the title track from her forthcoming new album, Trenches. She followed up with the release of "Friends (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)," scoring a Top 20 spot on the R&B Billboard chart. Monica followed with the official music video for "Friends." Directed by Sarah McColgan (H.E.R., Miguel, Charli XCX) and choreographed by Parris Goebel (Rihanna, SZA), the stunning clip racked up more than 2.2 MILLION views in the first week.

In 2023 Monica released her latest Trenches single "Letters" with the official music video featuring The Game - a sultry and intimate clip directed by Richard Selvi (Lil Nas X, Eminem, Polo G) from award winning creative and production studio, Swiss Made Entertainment. In addition, Summer 2023 welcomed the premiere of Monica's Apple Music show MoTalk Radio with basketball Hall of Famer & entrepreneur Shaquille O'Neal and country music star Mickey Guyton. Monica also performed on the Main Stage of the Essence Festival in New Orleans on July 1st while gracing the cover of Essence Magazine's July/August 2023 Digital Issue.

In January 2024 Rolling Stone featured Monica's hit "So Gone" at #56 in their "100 Greatest R&B Songs of the 21st Century," commending her "unapologetic realness." Monica's highly anticipated R&B album Trenches as well as her country album Open Roads (Executive Produced by Brandi Carlile) are slated for release in 2024.

    Only 27 minutes Monica?

by thefanman on 5/3/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Waiting in the venue 2 hours and 15 minutes before she hit the stage. and then she only performed for 27 minutes which included two Whitney Houston songs.....Ive seen her do much better, not sure if I was expecting too much from her considering she's been in the music biz 5 albums and 16 years. She should know better, Ill will buy her album but no more shows

    Monica-House of Blues Atlantic City

by Tarnisha on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

I enjoyed the show. Can't no one say that girl can't sing, because she proved it for all the haters. The only problem I have was Monica only performed for 47 minutes and not longer, and the doors opened at 8pm but Monica didn't come on till 10. But outside of the previous comments I did enjoy myself.

    Disappointed

by AutoBrink on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Several different factors played a part in the disappointment of the concert. 1. Monica came on 2 hours late. 2. The Sound systems was horrible. When she talked she sounded like Charlie's Browns teacher 3. She performed for 45 minutes. What happened to a complete concert? I don't think the house of blues advertised a Mini-Concert.

    I got got again

by MonicaFan1 on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

This was my second time seeing Monica and she did the same thing....gave a less than full performance. I figured with her being the headliner I would get at least an hour and a half show instead I got 40 minutes. She has too much good music to have shorted us like she did. I will continue to buy her music, because I love her and her voice, but I cannot say that I will be seeing her again. Sorry Monica.

    True Vocalist

by JLH1 on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Grammy-Award winning singer Monica absolutely rocked the House of Blues in Atlantic City this past May 1. This woman is probably the preeminent vocalist in R&B music right now. I know everyone has their personal favorite, but Monica took the stage and did what most artist don't and can't do, she use her GOD given vocal talent and everyone loved it! She took us all the way back to 1995 with "Don't Take It Personal" all the way to 2010 with her latest #1 Hit "Everything To Me." I think this was practice for her upcoming tour later this summer, but nonetheless she WOWED. I'm telling you, if she isn't nominated for multiple Grammy's this year, then the industry has totally lost its soul and hearing! She should be a LOCK for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance and it should be televised. Monica should have had a live band with her, but she still held up and even gave several selection's accapella. Her accapella renidition of "For You I Will" is a testament to her powerful voice and a throwback to female vocalicts of yesteryear.

    Monica was amazing

by abbaDabs1 on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

The show was awesome. I forgot just how many hit singles she had! From "Don't take it personal" to "Everything to me" Monica We Missed You! Glad to see you back, with real R& B. My only gripe was the venue listed the show for 8 PM, and Monica came on at 10:00. Monica killed it when she came on, but the long wait was annoying. HOB needs to advertise the correct time for their shows....Monica We Love You!

Monica deserves a bigger & better arena!!!

    by number1monicafan on 4/1/10Mardi Gras - Jackson

Monica's performance was of course the best of the best. I was just frustrated that the venue that was selected was a club & that she only performed for maybe an hour & a 1/2 versus the potential 5 hours of a full repertoire.

    Awesome!

    by Stevenmc8602 on 3/26/10Mardi Gras - Jackson

I loved the concert. She was very interactive with the crowd and she sung a decent amount of songs. She was on stage for a little over an hour. The only complaint is she only sung 1 song off the new cd!

    Monica Has True Talent!!

by msgo on 3/23/10Mardi Gras - Jackson

Monica has a beautiful voice and is very talented but I will never ever attend another concert at a club the experience was horrible !! The club was packed there was not enough seating and Monica did come onto stage until after midnight and the show was suppose to start at 9 FYI do not keep your fans waiting that long to see you !!

    Not worth the Ticket Price

by cparks on 3/22/10Mardi Gras - Jackson

This concert sucked ( for a lack of better words). Not worth even being called a concert! The tickets said 2nd row and there was not even any seating, it was at a club! So whereever you pushed your way too in that crowded sweatbox is where you saw Monica. Lines were ridiuclous and we Waited from 9 to Midnight on Monica and when she finally came out at midnight, she sang (mostly acapella) bcuz the sound was screwed up and then left after about 40 minutes!!!

    Monica Did Good

by pound on 3/21/10Mardi Gras - Jackson

Monica really had a good set but the overall experience was bad. We had to stand in line for an hour with tickets. The building was to small and did not have enough tables or chairs. We got inside around 9:15 but Monica didnt come on untill 12:30. We stood up the whole time it was hot and to packed inside.
