Moncton Wildcats Live
When the 2018-19 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) season kicked off, the Moncton Wildcats unveiled their brand-new $113 million home in the Avenir Centre. They set a QMJHL attendance record with a sold-out crowd of 8,800 fans in the home opener against the Saint John Sea Dogs and won the game 5-2.
Delivering on big aspirations seems to be a recurring theme for the Wildcats, who already are near the top of the league standings in their new facility. With wingers Jeremy McKenna and Jakob Pelletier leading the way along with starting goalie Francis Leclerc, Coach Darren Rumble's team is the hottest ticket on Canada's East Coast.
The Wildcats offer flex packs of 10, 20, or 36 games, starting at less than $16 a ticket. In the new arena, there also are two party suites with stellar views of the four-panel screen display above the playing rink, as well as private entrances and access to the Lounsbury Club Lounge.
Avenir Centre is a stone's throw from the Moncton rail line, and there's plenty to do in the arena's outdoor plaza, with a bandstand, another ice rink, a park, and a lounging gazebo all nearby.
Moncton Wildcats Background
Founded in 1995, the Moncton Wildcats existed as the Moncton Alpines for a single season before owner Robert Irving took over the team in 1996 and helped guide them to QMJHL prominence. Winning championships in 2006 and 2010, the Wildcats have had their share of NHL stars before they made it big, headlined by Corey Crawford, the two-time Stanley Cup champion goalie of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Count NHL All-Stars Brad Marchand and Keith Yandle as Moncton alumni, as well as Norris Trophy finalist Francois Beauchemin. Coaches Ted Nolan and John Torchetti both had stints with Moncton before heading to the NHL. When not holding Wildcats games, Avenir Centre is a multipurpose event facility hosting Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group, in addition to Canadian artists new and old like Metric and Bryan Adams.
Gorgeous venue, great team, ambiance is worth the visit, but small crowd.
The seats we had were great, right on the blue line and at a level that made watching the game easy. Halifax Mooseheads were a class above the Moncton Wildcats that night and were able to complete their set plays very well. Their passing was cleaner and generally better than those of Moncton who sometimes passed to where there was no wildcat player. All in all a good evening of hockey.
I have never been to the Avenir Centre to see a performance outside of a hockey game which had been just recently as well but the performance was absolutely amazing with incredible artists and athletes doing what they had been doing for many years in New York. I just hope that I will be able to see this again as it was that special
I, along with several others, were temporarily delayed upon entry as our tickets did not download correctly. Was a little frustrating. Both for us and the security people involved.
First time with my grandkids. I will return for sur
Tickets was scanned and no no problem and Game was awesome.
Decided to bring the kids to the opener this year! Normally we are busy with hockey so try to get to as many games as we can however i am so excited me made this one!!! Was so much going on for the kids we made a day of it.
Was a great game!! Being Sea Dog fans in the enemy's territory was alot of fun. Great action, great nachos and great company.
great game everything was perfect and the kids enjoyed it
We like to watch the wildcat. The négatif part its the long walk becose avenir center dont have parking!!!!
Everything about this arena makes you feel like your in a nhl game from the second you walk inside. Great venue
From start to finish the security was friendly, did their job but friendly. The 50/50 people were great and the poutine is so so good. Gotta try it. It’s comparable to a small NHL rink.
It was a great experience. Everything from the rink to the food! The washrooms were awesome and the goal horn is amazing!
The game itself was awesome; our seats were great and the atmosphere was great too. However, the food prices are way too high and there’s barely any choices for snacks.
Had a Great Time and all went well. Hope to use Ticket Master again
As we walked 8nto Avenir Center, i building was full of energy for this playoff game. Found our seats, first row, on the glass, behind the goalie. The extra leg room from being in the first row was a bonus. I was so impressed the everything I saw, I bought tickets for other events a few days later. What a great game and place to watch sports.
Music was loud. Very hard to circulate between periodes.
This new venue is amazing! The seats are comfortable and the hockey was entertaining to watch!
