Rating: 3 out of 5Modern English still a classic!
by SisterofMercy on 11/13/17The Hollow - AlbanyStarting off their set with an energetic "16 days" Modern English did not appear to be a classic band from the eighties but rather a fresh and vibrant upcoming alternative band. Lead singer Robbie Grey's vocals were outstanding and strong along side the remaining original members Gary McDowell guitar, Michael Connors bass, Stephen Walker keyboard with the addition of Roy Martin on drums. The band performed several songs from each of their most popular albums, Mesh and Lace and After the Snow including Trees from their 2016 Take me to the Trees album and of course an Encore of "I Melt With You" which became a hit in the US from its heavy video rotation on MTV in early 1983. For fans who know Modern English it was a yearned nostalgic trip down memory lane and for those that didn't they will be searching for their music to rediscover them again.
