    Just OK>

    by B. B. on 9/16/22Sony Hall - New York

I saw them in the 1980s. Good then. Their newer material isn't as good in. my opinion. Too drawn out Sony Hall was nice venue though. I was there once before the pandemic to see Big Country. No tables on the floor then.

Awesome fun & engaging bands @ an amazing venue!

by Darren on 9/16/22Sony Hall - New York

Took my wife to see this band since she has liked them by the time she was 10 years old! The bands were both very personable with the crowd and really got everyone up on their feet. The service was amazing and food was much better than expected too! Overall this was an awesome experience. Most definitely something we will never forget.

    Modern English still a classic!

by SisterofMercy on 11/13/17The Hollow - Albany

Starting off their set with an energetic "16 days" Modern English did not appear to be a classic band from the eighties but rather a fresh and vibrant upcoming alternative band. Lead singer Robbie Grey's vocals were outstanding and strong along side the remaining original members Gary McDowell guitar, Michael Connors bass, Stephen Walker keyboard with the addition of Roy Martin on drums. The band performed several songs from each of their most popular albums, Mesh and Lace and After the Snow including Trees from their 2016 Take me to the Trees album and of course an Encore of "I Melt With You" which became a hit in the US from its heavy video rotation on MTV in early 1983. For fans who know Modern English it was a yearned nostalgic trip down memory lane and for those that didn't they will be searching for their music to rediscover them again.

    Jengula and Modern English rocked

by TherealATrain on 8/26/13Mercury Lounge - New York

Jengula and Modern English rocked the Mercury Lounge. Jengula's new stimulating sound was a great set off to Modern's cutting edge from 30 years ago. Great evening except for Mercury Lounge's amateurish sound board mixing....should be better than that fellas.
