MODERAT IN CONCERT:
IDM supergroup Moderat bring the digital into the physical at their extraordinary live shows. Consistently ranked among electronic music's best live acts, the trio envelop concertgoers at their otherworldly performances, employing an arsenal of unique controller instruments and mindblowing visuals to create a first-class sensorial experience. Moderat floored at their 2013 shows, building excitement for select North American tour dates in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Comprised of Apparat and Modeselektor — both acclaimed electronic outfits in their own right — Berlin-based Moderat made their debut in 2002 with the Auf Kosten der Gesundheit EP. Due to creative differences, seven years would pass before an album hit shelves, but it was worth the wait — the trio's 2009 self-titled debut was a critical success, leading to extensive touring and a growing reputation as one of the best live acts in electronic music. Following the release of sophomore album II in 2013, Moderat once again hit the road for another series of acclaimed live shows.
Amazing, the sound engineering was top-notch. The minimal visuals were also very tasteful and creative.
The Berlin clubbing scene is unique, and it can be hard to completely feel the culture and background behind this music, especially if in another continent. But I was amazed at how LA welcomed these amazing artists! What a night
Been to see Moderat three times in LA, the sound quality at the Wiltern was absolutely terrible. Bass was so muddled it sounded like a bad car blasting music at a stop light. One of the worst sojnd systems I’ve heard in years which is a shame, because Moderat’s sound is so unique and dynamic.
Moderat was amazing. Unfortunately the sound at Fox Theater is terrible.
The performance was so much better than I expected, and my expectations were a bit high to begin with. With that said, the show was wonderful and I would not hesitate to see them again. The only issue we found was with the visuals. We were sitting in the mezzanine up above, and so the light fixture set on stage seemed to be angled directly into our eyes. It was extremely uncomfortable to watch at several points when the lights were flashing and strobing brightly. Felt as if I had to keep my eyes closed at several points, and I was not alone in that. The venue/artist might want to consider a seizure warning with sale of tickets! Not sure if the folks down on the floor had the same effect. Otherwise, highly recommended.
the show itself was too short, wait between artist too long, and turned on lights after every song expecting us to clap..
Im so thrilled for Moderat coming back to the Fox. It was such an intimate yet awe experiencing moment. From seeing them at LiB to coming to fox you definitely get a treat to be so up close and personal
I have been to many incredible shows, including Radiohead and Gorillaz, but this is the best show I have ever seen. It was such an incredible experience from beginning to end. I love how much detail they put into their show, from the visual art, how music traveled through the venue (we were sitting at the lodge area) to how much they actually connected with their crowd. If they ever come near you, do yourself a favor and go!!
Light show was too intense for the venue. If you are sensitive to light and strobe lighting, think twice before going.
What a amazing night we spend with Moderat ! A great great show ! Must see
