Mizzou Tigers Women’s Basketball History

The University of Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team launched in 1974 and has competed in the Big Eight, Big 12 and Southeastern conferences. Over the years, the Tigers have secured five conference tournament championships, four regular season titles and 13 Women’s March Madness appearances. The Mizzou women’s basketball team has reached the second round six times, most recently in 2019, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in 1982 and 2001. Additionally, the Tigers have made 10 appearances in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament between 2000 and 2023.

The Mizzou Tigers women’s basketball team plays at Mizzou Arena on the campus of the University of Missouri. Mizzou Arena takes its name from the university’s nickname, while its playing surface is named Norm Stewart Court in honor of the Mizzou men’s basketball coach from 1967 to 1999. Opened in 2004, Mizzou Arena holds a seating capacity of 15,061.
