MS Braves: A Dream Come True!
by XXXtriple on 7/22/09Trustmark Park - PearlGrowing up as a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan in Southwest Mississippi during the 1980s, I can only imagine how many vital organs I would have given if the Braves' AA team had been located in Jackson, 2 hours from my hometown. Ironically, I lived in the Greenville, SC, area for a couple of years before the team relocated to MS, but by then I was long-gone from the Magnolia State. I've wanted to return to MS to watch the M-Braves play since they landed there, but I wasn't able to do that until this May. I really enjoyed the experience. Trustmark Park is a very nice park, and AA baseball is a fantastic entertainment value. I was able to spend some quality time with relatives who still live there and whom I don't often see. We enjoyed the fact that they had a free Crocs promotion. I also commend them highly for a pro shop full of high-quality, ultra-attractive merchandise and encourage them to continue to do what they do well. Steve DeSalvo (the GM) was well respected in the Greenville area, and I'm sure that's the case in the Jackson metro area, because his management skills are quite obvious in the M-Braves organization.
