    Miracle

    by Bertie35 on 8/14/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

As usual, Intiman did a fabulous job with the staging, the costumes and the quality of acting. The play itself however, was totally and unnecessarily vulgar, both in dialog and actions, but especially in its dialog. It IS possible to get ideas across without being so overtly graphic. I believe the audience should be given some credit for having intelligence and imagination. The language, especially the rap song in the first act, is my main reason for NOT recommending this play.

MY 84 YEAR OLD HUSBAND AND HIS 75 YEAR OLD WIFE THOUGHT MIRACLE WAS SUPERB!!!! WE CERTAINLY DID NOT NEED ALL THOSE WARNINGS - WE ARE ADULTS!!! IT WAS VERY FUNNY; ALL ACTORS DID VERY VERY WELL.

    In need of a Miracle!

by Subscribernomore on 8/14/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

For all the pre-play cautions about offensive language, sex acts, etc., the real warning we needed was that the lazy writing behind the revue (a more accurate description than play) was the offensive part. Jerry Seinfeld was once asked why he didn't use cursing in his stand-up comedy, and his response was that it was a cheat--an indication that the comedian wasn't working too hard. I'm not that much of a purist; so hey, bring on the cursing, but could we have some theatrical elements that maybe make us not only laugh, but think and above all, care. I left feeling cheated of the quality theatrical experiences I have come to expect from Intiman over many years.

Funnier and more moving than expected. Strange theme really works.

    It was hilarious

We enjoyed this very much. The actors did a terrific job. But don't recommend for your religious friends who might object to this type of thing. The costumes were terrific. Loved the materials in them.

You know, not as offensive as you might think, but totally great.

I am recommending this play to those who like entertainment without meaning, gutter language, and disgustingly filthy humor.

    Heartwarming recontextualization of a classic.

by AlbertS on 8/12/12Playhouse/Intiman - Seattle

Very funny, very well structured... with a great heart and a great message. If Intiman can do this sort of edgy, wonderful work - not worrying too much about offending the too-easily-offendable - then perhaps there's hope. I've attended Intiman's shows occasionally over most of its history, and Miracle! is among the most satisfying shows I've seen. Thanks!
