Minnesota Lynx History

The Minnesota Lynx are an American professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Lynx joined the WNBA as an expansion team in 1999 and have since become one of the league's most successful franchises, winning four WNBA championships in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Along with their league-best four titles, the Lynx have set multiple WNBA records including largest margin of victory in a single game (59 points), most rebounds both in a season and all-time by 2017 MVP Sylvia Fowles and most wins in both regular season and playoff history by three-time WNBA Coach of the Year Cheryl Reeve, who began leading the team in 2010. The Lynx have retired the jersey numbers for Fowles, Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Brunson and Seimone Augustus, with plans to retire 2014 WNBA MVP Maya Moore’s No. 23 during the 2024 regular season.

Such a fun game! The players are great, play with a lot of heart and the organization does a great job of getting the fans involved! Fun music! Was skeptical about spending a Friday night at a WNBA game but I'm so glad I did! I will be back!

The game on Saturday night was a lot of fun. It surpassed what we were expecting. Very enjoyable evening, worth the price of the ticket and we hope to get to another game!

loved that it was inexpensive. first time sitting in the lower level. Wish the timberwolves tickets would lower in price, especially since they play so horrible. Lynx definitely play better quality ball, and will going to more lynx games instead of timberwolves because it's nice to go to games that the team wins!

Last time I went to a lynx game, it felt like a three ring circus and not at all like a contested basketball game. This time, although the arena was very loud, the music was fun and the excitement that the kids showed did not detract from the basketball game. It was at least a two ring circus. I still miss the tension and focus on the game that college basketball provides. Maybe the game announcer could be given more attention than the cheerleader.

    Loaded With Talent!

by MRPM on 6/10/11Target Center - Minneapolis

The current Minnesota Lynx team is loaded with talent at all positions as well they should be given their draft status the past 3 years. They have the "Best" point guard in all of basketball in Lindsay Whalen-a coach on the floor. Her ability to find the the best person to score in any given situation is a natural ability that very few players possess. With Maya and Seimone as shooting wings and the tremendous overall ability of both Rebecca and Taj in the paint, this IS ONE GOOD BASKETBALL TEAM. On paper, they are without equal. Ttheir bench too is very strong with Candice Wiggins, Monica Wright, and Amber Harris filling in very admirably. All 3 of them would be starters on most teams in the WNBA. This team will only get better game by game. I couldn't be more excited about this or any basketball team for that matter. GO LYNX!!!

the Lynx are Energized and Entertaining

by Pedrocito on 6/7/11Target Center - Minneapolis

The recent Lynx victory over the Sparks was one of the most entertaining and well played games I've seen in a long time. The pace was up-tempo, the play crisp, and the rebounding rugged. This is an athletic bunch, and with everyone healthy they're going to be fun to watch. Of course, having Maya adds to the fun. Good stuff. And, we got the Red Panda at halftime - awesome! The Lynx deserve some big crowds.

    BEAT LA

    by Kona10 on 7/28/10Target Center - Minneapolis

The Lynx crowd doesnt cheer on the team like they should. I'm a former Monarchs fan, the best fans in WNBA (use to be). I tried to get crowd to chant "BEAT LA" dang no one joined in. Where's your team spirit? Rebekkah Brunson is showing her "game".............

That was excellent, aggressive, exciting basketball!!! Double overtime!! It would have been great if the Lynx had won, but it by no means spoiled a fantastic game!
