A kitchen chat - Nearly forgettable

by REMYMARTIN on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Unless you are an extreme follower of Mike Tyson/boxing, this was fairly forgettable. It was a one man show and most of what was said was not fascinating to me. It wasn't bad, but on some level, I felt like it was no more exciting than someone coming over and chatting with me in the kitchen over a glass of wine or a beer. The only difference was I paid $300.00 a ticket to hear this palaver. However, in the end, we concluded that Mike Tyson didn't come across nearly as ignorant as we thought he might. I think a one man show is pretty hard to pull off in this day and age - when we are all bombarded with a plethora of multiple stimuli.

It was a trip down memory lane! Tyson is great on stage, very personable and heartfelt. You experienced the highs and lows right along with him! Excellent visual display.

    An AMAZING Show!!!!!!

by ChicagoScott on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

When I first heard that Mike Tyson was going "on Broadway", I was a bit incredulous. However, there was no way I was going to miss a chance to hear about Tyson's life journey as told in his own words. I am so glad that I did. Mike Tyson was AMAZING! His 2-hour tour through his life was simultaneously real (to the point of being appropriately raw), funny, sad and ultimately engaging. Tyson had every person in the auditorium on the edge of their seats waiting for the next words to come out of his mouth. He didnt pull any punches when talking about his successes, failures, heartaches and joys. Even my wife, who knows NOTHING about boxing and knew little about Tyson other than negative press, LOVED the show and left the building a Mike Tyson supporter!

    Iron Mike

    by JB1031 on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I went in with no expectations, because well, it was Mike Tyson on Broadway. If anything, it would be a story for later in life. I was pleasantly surprised. Mike told his story from childhood to tax debt, and it was really great. He was both very funny, and very sad. We've all heard the stories told in the tabloids, and told by others, but this was great to hear it from Iron Mike himself. If you have ever been a fan of boxing, especially a fan of Mike, you should go see him. The story flowed well, and had good direction from Spike Lee. I really enjoyed myself a lot more than anticipated. I've spent money on Mike Tyson pay per views that last 90 seconds...Mike spoke for 2 straight hours without a drop in energy. Go see it. Hopefully this will help him pay off his tax debts and get back to life. He deserves a shot at normalcy.

    Pleasantly Surprised

    by EmptyNester50 on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I thoroughly enjoyed Mike Tyson telling the story of his life. It felt like he was having a conversation with old friends. He was funny, endearing and entertaining at the same time. He transitioned very well from topic to topic and I love that he was just himself.

    by shakey2k1 on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The show was excellent. He kept my attention the whole night with his stories. He showed every range of emotion from his sensitive side to his comedic side. I appreciated him talking to us as though we were his therapists. Great show!!!

    Tyson FLOP!

by Hawkee on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This was the worst show I have ever witnessed! Typical Mike Tyson event, waste of money. Do your self a favor save your money, total joke. After about an hour of listening to him stumble all over his words I had to get up and leave. This was like Tyson was trying to read his bio off a sheet of paper and couldn't read....actually fell asleep through parts! Not what I expected. But then again it's Tyson....

    Tough knocks

    by hlk089 on 2/18/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I went in anxious and with an open mind, the show lasted exactly two hours and was entertaining from start to finish, there were no holds barred, Mike addressed all the issues some brought on by him but most of it was misguided trust and just plain bad luck. The show was at times hilarious and other times heart wrenching, and inspiring. Mike managed to get in every story that made the news and he looked great! He stated during the show that he was now a vegan somehow it doesn't fit his image but whatever its working, at times he was a little hard to understand, he said he has been taking speech therapy but "they weren't working" all in all I was surprised how good the show was

It's his life story the only way he can tell it

by Vegitoboi on 2/17/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

If you were a fan of Mike Tyson, you'll like his one man tell all "Powerpoint presentation" of a show. It's just Tyson conducting his own autobiography for approximately 2 hours. From his hard upbringings in New York, to his rise to to becoming the undisputed World Champion, to his downfall and peace with himself and his family, Tyson tries to paint a picture through his stories, visual presentations, and comedic impersonations of key people that played roles in his life. Certainly a must see for fans of the former heavyweight champions of the world.

Tyson can tell a story with heart, heartache, and so much humor. He could have gone to the route of extreme vulgarity like other performers but he did not. He knew his audience.

Didn't know what to expect, but it was great. Funny, real and entertaining. Boxing fans and anyone who enjoyed watching Tyson in his hayday will enjoy, so long as you're not easily offended by strong language.
