Mike Shinoda In Concert
If frontman Chester Bennington provided the howling catharsis in Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda served as the rock band's understated, Yoda-like presence. On hits such as "In The End" and "Somewhere I Belong," Shinoda dishes out hard-fought wisdom in an easygoing voice that reveals an intuitive grasp of groove and flow. Despite such outward calm, he isn't always even-keeled: On the angsty "Faint," Shinoda cranks up the urgency of his rapping to match the jagged, electro-metallic instrumentation.
Unsurprisingly, his non-Linkin Park work is just as wide-ranging and adventurous. Fort Minor serves as a solo outlet for inventive hip-hop with socially conscious lyrics and eclectic instrumentation. And on the 2018 album ‘Post Traumatic,' released under his own name, Shinoda exudes raw-nerve vulnerability as he works through the range of emotions he felt after Bennington's 2017 suicide. Naturally, it's a moving collection steeped in evocative electronic sounds, moody hip-hop production, and ruminative lyrics.
This genre-busting approach makes sense: Shinoda was raised in southern California, where he grew up a hip-hop fan—albums by Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, and LL Cool J were early faves—and he played piano and keyboards. As a teenager, his tastes broadened to include blues and jazz; later, he started dabbling in guitar, sampling and making beats, and eventually rapping.
Shinoda co-founded Linkin Park precursor band Xero while still in high school. He continued playing with the group during and after college, juggling graphic design work with his burgeoning music career. That love of art has never dissipated; in fact, Shinoda even contributed to Linkin Park's design aesthetic and packaging.
Appropriately, fans coming to his headlining tour can see displays of original artwork he made in parallel with ‘Post Traumatic,' in addition to hearing songs culled from that album, plus select cuts spanning his entire career.

I can only describe it in one word, Incredible. Perfect in every way.
Mike Shinoda put on a fantastic, unforgettable show, playing a bunch of favourites from Linkin Park and Fort Minor and his outstanding new solo material. Mike really connected with the crowd and was so entertaining and uplifting. The House of Blues Las Vegas is a fantastic venue with a great atmosphere and sounded phenomenal. Artist and venue both highly recommended. Go see Mike Shinoda if you have the opportunity you will not be disappointed.
Mike Shinoda is such a talented musician. He writes, plays a variety of instruments, sings, raps, is very engaging with the crowd. It was an unforgettable night! I am so happy that I went! Definitely has crept up to the top 3 of all the concerts I have been to!
What a fun and thoughtful show! Mike Shinoda enjoys the crowd and plays his music as well as some Linkin Park songs. So much fun!
Mike's doing an awesome job as a solo artist, playing a great mix of fort minor, linkin park, and material from his new solo album.
Amazing show! Had a fantastic time! Great venue!!!
The HOB NOLA is a beautiful and unique venue and Mike Shinoda is an AMAZING performer! I've been an Linkin Park fan for 15+ years, and seeing him never gets old! I would travel from Texas again to attend a show in NOLA!
This was, by far, the best night of my life. The show was beautiful, emotional, and the sound quality was perfect. Security was great and the fans/family took care of each other. I absolutely loved it. ❤️
It was definitely a night to remember! Mike made everyone there feel like part of the show instead of fans. And Don Broco was an epic opener. Made me a new fan!!
Mike shinoda had an amazing performance at the ritz in Ybor. The crowd was engaged the entire time and he kept the energy flowing. He hit us with a surprise performance of sharp edges and touched the emotions of all of us with him playing in the end. Never got to see Linkin Park live so it was nice to get a chance to at least see Mike shinoda when he hit my town. 10/10 will see again
Shinoda puts on a stellar show. The venue was beautiful and the Meet and Greet was pretty flawless even though it was only their 3rd time doing it. 11/10 would do it again.
Best show ever! Mike was unforgettable! Highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance!
Loved, loved, loved the show!!! It was AWESOME! Would highly recommend seeing Mike Shinoda!
Amazing show, as someone who saw Linkin Park multiple times this was the first time being able to catch a performance in a lot more of an intimate venue where Mike could interact with the crowd a lot more. He did a great job of mixing in old Fort Minor stuff, new Post traumatic stuff, and classic LP songs in an amazing set. The highlight had to be the Chester/Linkin Park medley that rolled right into new tracks About You and Over Again which were a perfect bookend to his feelings about the whole situation and this current tour, but the most EPIC moment of the night for long time fans had to be the performance of a remixed version of Cigarettes from the Fort Minor album as well as Kenji. The only way the show could have been better was if the rest of LP was there or if he had a guest like Chino from Deftones (whose music was playing while the stage was being set) Also really wanted to hear Mike perform Lift Off in some fashion even if it was just his verse and him singing the hook. All we can do is hope that we get at least one more LP tour with the rest of the guys or one more album just to close the book on LP and Chester once and for all and that they come through to Atlanta again. I'll be there.
Mike Shinoda was amazing in concert. Sooooo many emotions and his energy never stopped!
Mike absolutely brought the house down. Don Broco was super energetic. The venue staff was warm and welcoming. The meet and greet was handled very well. Over all, the entire night was great. No complaints.
It was amazing!! Definitely recommend! Best one I've been to!
Mike was so good. His music and his interaction with the fans was great. A perfect show.
Mike Shinoda’s performance wasn’t just any ordinary performance. It was an experience and an emotional rollercoaster ride. We laughed. We cried. We made new friends. We sang our hearts out. I don’t think I can ever find the words to fully express how amazing this experience was.
